i tired the diamond calc, but can''t get it to work properly. can someone help me with what the diameter for a well cut 1.27 round should be? Thanks!

From what I''ve read, somewhere around 7mm, give or take, for a well cut round.

I concur, around 7mm. You can use this formula:

diameter x diameter x depth x 0.0061 = carat weight

You can assume a depth percentage, for example: depth = 0.593 x diameter. This is the Tolkowsky depth.

Substituting and solving for 1.27 carats:

(diameter)^3 = 1.27/(0.0061 * 0.593) = 351.09
diameter = (351.09)^0.3333 = 7.05 mm

So you could run this calc for different depth percentages, but my guess is they would have to be approx. within the "ideal range". Does this make sense?
