I am looking at buying a 2 carat brilliant round G VS2 diamond and have a couple of diamonds in consideration.

I know my girlfriend well and have set out what I think would be her criteria for a setting;

CRITERIA

1. Platinum
2. the engagement ring must be compatible with a STRAIGHT wedding band, NO DIP
3. i dont want a think band, and i dont mean the thickness loooking at the ring dead on straight at the diamond, i mean when u look at it so you can see the circumferance of the ring, i dont want it thick that way, i want it to be comfortable, so she will nearly forget she is wearing it
4. dont like it sittting too high, then becomes impracticaI
5. No need to have any side stones or such like. I think this diamond needs no little distractions !
6. Something that allows the diamond to show off all it''s sparkle but at same time keeps it protected.
7.Something contemporary / modern
8. Not a really thin band

I have been looking at settings for the diamond this week and have shortlisted the following ( unless when you read my criteria and you get a feel for the type of design I am after, any of the amazing pricescope members feel like suggesting others that would be more suitable !!! )

thanks bgray

does anyone else have a suggestion for the perfect setting for me to fulfill as many of my criteria as possible?

I love the Sleek Line Legato solitaire by whiteflash: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-Legato--Sleek-Line-Diamond-Solitaire_1118.htm
I know Arjunajane has the Sleek Line Legato setting if you want to see real world pics of it; it looks like it's flush fit with a wedding band. The head on this setting is really a lovely subtle touch I think.

This one has a tiny suprise diamond visible only from the side as an interesting touch, and is flush fit for sure: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/-Flush-Fit--Cathedral-Style-Diamond-Ring_1065.htm#

This one has a cool head (also with a tiny suprise diamond), and looks very thin between the fingers: http://www.whiteflash.com/Engagement-Rings/Styles/Solitaire/Comfort-Fit--Surprise--Diamond-Ring_765.htm#

The Vatche ones you posted are nice too- Vatche is great quality, you can't go wrong with any of those either. I vaguely recall the Vatche Royal Crown (your last link) doesn't allow for a flush fit band, though I could be wrong. Of all your choices you posted, that one's my favorite though, with the Caroline as my second favorite- but I'm not a fan of X prongs, so there you go

. The WF Legato is my all time favorite solitaire setting though.

thanks for your thoughts

shameless bump!

My favorite classic platinum solitaire maker is Leon Mege and it sounds like he might fit really well with your criteria, but I must admit I haven't seen much else. He does get rave reviews around here.

Here is one with a princess. http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=467
It's his classic solitaire so if you look at images with other shapes, you can see better details of the basket, etc...or you can also search for pics on here. There are several solitaire owners. You can dictate to him the thinness of the band and that a wedding band must sit flush.

Another classic solitaire with a little different view but this one with a cushion http://www.artofplatinum.com/4images/details.php?image_id=347

wow
leon mege looks great. can you take loose stones to him or do you have to buy a stone from him?
also how long does the process usually take as I am flying from scotland to New York in just 16 days from now, the aim being to pick up my ring/diamond and pop the question!

That might be hard then. You have to send the stone into Leon and it has to be with him the whole time which is about 4-6 weeks. I wouldn't go with him unless you have a little less than 2 months to spare. You have to get a quote, ship him the diamond, do a work order, and then have him ship it back (or you can pick it up and drop it off if in NYC).

Where did you buy your ring from? Given your timeline you may want to consider a simple temporary solitaire. Most facier rings take at least 2 weeks and that is when it isn''t the holiday rush!
