Hi there, I really like this quartz, it reminds me of Chinese Scenic painting. However I do not have much ideas to the type of setting it will fit. Need some help here It measures 16mmX17mmX 6mm (square). I would like to set it as a ring with simple double claws setting at the 4 corners. Maybe in 18k yellow gold. Do you have any other design ideas? as it is quite big on my size 8 finger and its full of details, will not be looking at a decorative border. Keep your valuable views coming!!

Something like this but with double claws at the 4 corners ( the bottom left corner is a little off 90 degree, needs to be covered:), in 18k yellow gold. What do you think?

I like this ring, simple and elegant.

Awesome setting. It''s simplicity lets the picture take center stage.

I like that setting a lot!

Very pretty. I think that setting is right on the money.

I really, really love that setting. It really makes the stone take the stage.

Thanks for all the feedbacks! A point to note, my quartz is squarish not elongated, will it still looks good? White gold or yellow gold? I am leaning towards yellow gold as there is a little rusty gold tone in the quartz. What do you think?:)

YG was my initial idea, and now that I saw the setting I''m even more sure about that choice. With different proportions it''ll surely look different, but will that be good or bad, depends on a number of factors like your finger shape/size/lenght.

what a gorgeous ring to have as your model when you go to your jeweler!

That''s a big ditto from Gailey. Can you tell us where it''s from?

That being said, are you hell bent on a ring? I think it would make a nice pendant or pin - maybe even a "pringant".

Whatever you do with it, I would consider foil backing it to make it pop.

HI:

That setting is devine. Great stone--oh lala!!

cheers--Sharon

i wouldn''t foil back it! let the light shine, sister!

Definitely Gailey! I was simply searching thru yahoo and saw this beautiful ring by christopherphelan. He makes it to sell at $2400

so I intend to put one together on my own

Given the rich details and the size (usually quite big) pendant its a good idea, however I am not a necklace/chain person. just do not feel comfortable wearing. Hence its always ring for me!

I had check out the price for 18k yellow gold. It cost almost USD380. Since the quartz itself does not cost much. I thought of setting it in 925 silver. The patina in the silver will look kinda cool too. And not to mention the much lower cost. Does anyone know who can do that?

the stone may not have cost much but putting it in that setting would make it a work of art. i personally don''t see it as a waste to spend $350 on the setting...but that''s me.

however, if you want to do silver, it will also look good, i think.

I honestly think this stone will look a lot better in yg. It really is a neat stone and I can''t wait to see it set.

I don''t think it would be a waste of money either-I think it would be well worth it!
