What styles to do like? Traditional/Vintage/Modern? Do you already have the stone?

BeGatch has a STUNNER... (I hope she doesn''t mind me using her pic

I love the idea of a delicate halo with a killer stone!
Just an idea for your''s!

I too like a nice halo for an oval.

I would go with a beautiful solitaire or add some small side stones. I recently saw a fantastic oval with tapered baguettes.

Wow, that last ring looks so "Harry Winston."

Ohh Bebe that is a stunner. My first thought was to do a Tom Cruise on it and go for bling - the natural sapphire co have lots of affordable styles. Just skip the sofa gymnastics!

But that classic with side stones posted above is a looker.....mhh...decisions!

Simple yet opulent!

Bebe that''s gorgeous. I don''t think you need a halo with a 5 ct oval. Let it shine on it''s own.

Woah. That looks awesome.

I agree that you don''t need a halo - let that baby shine on its own!

That ring is drool-worthy. I love the contrast between the tapered baquettes and the curves of the oval.

The tapered baguettes are AWESOME!

I love that pic!! It was the inspiration for my engagement ring.

I believe this is a 5 ct oval by WF. I used this pic as part of my inspiration for my ring.

That ring is great! I did an oval with pears- a bit more sparkle on the side than step cuts. Still no good pics though.

hmm...I''m partial to an oval set with 2 pear sides, preferably with delicate claw prongs, like those done by Leon Mege - I think that''s a classic, timeless, and beautiful look

I think I''m the only person who does not like the way leon sets his pears (or most people for that matter). I finally got a decent close pic of my oval so you can see the pears are set under the center stone ever so slightly. I didn''t want to see the rounded edge of the pear touching the oval. Does that make any sense? The jeweler fought my fiance over this actually.

Aww how sweet Crickett!!!!!! I opened this thread thinking wow a 5ct oval nice and it soooo made my night to see my ring on here!!!!!! Thanks! I have to say that I love my halo but my stone is only a 3ct so on a 5ct I would probably go with a simpler setting....

While I think a delicate halo would be nice, bullet or shield side stones would be even better and absolutley classic! How fun - I can''t wait to see what you end up doing...
