What plain band with Vatche U113?

Hi ladies, I have recently received my own Vatche U113 solitaire in 18kt WG from the very lovely and patient Yekutiel from IDJ. It is in the process of being set with my diamond. I have several 18kt wg diamond bands that I have collected over our 8 years of marriage that I will wear with the vatche, however always liked the matchy knife edge plain band ala Tiffany style as an option as well. Vatche can make me one, however the price seems very excessive for a plain white gold band. I'm not a fan of the curved bands that vatche recommends.

Any suggestions? (My gut tells me I should bite the bullet and get the custom matching knife edge band by vatche)

Thank you! :))

You're going to pay more for a Vatche band just because it has a designer name. However, I'd rather bite the bullet and go with it as you know it will both match and compliment the same metal as the ering.

I personally don't love the matching knife edge band, but I do love all of Tiffany's other plain bands with it, especially the milgrain edge bands. But I think those are all in platinum, so you'd have to get a wg one somewhere else. I'd just suggest looking through the Tiffany site to see the styles, at least. Then you'd know the bands that would normally be worn with the inspiration ring!

But I agree with MGR, if you want the matching knife edge ring, get the Vatche so they will match well.

Thank you missgotrocks and diamondseeker!

I will definitely go through tiffany's and see what other bands to consider before ordering the knife edge.

Since I might be keeping my Vatche for a while (I have a RC), I am kind of in the same boat. I figure any resetting for my eng ring I do, I will just have them match the plain band shank. I am waffling between a 2mm Lucida from Tiffany that might be a better match to my channel set from Tiffany vs getting a matching Vatche. The Vatche is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than the Tiffany band, as it's I assume made to match, but both are atrocious for what they are, a plain 2mm platinum band. The profile of the ring is the important part, bec I can't seem to find one that is "low dome" but not totally, whereas you have a knife edge that is not quite identical to anyhting out there either...I need to go back to Tiffany and try that one on again with my rings and see what I think. I wear a Stuller with my set now, and to me that is too rounded and does not "go". I know your pain.

Hi ame, thanks for chiming in. I am so happy to hear I'm not the only one with these matching issues. With my previous solitaire (which the ocd perfectionist within me was never really happy with) I've collected few plain bands over the years in the quest to get a 'match' so it's probably better to pay the designer name premium this time round and get it right from the get go.

I really am at that same place. I am anal-retentive and OCD as all getout, and it's well-chronicled on here. I like the matchingness and I think it is worth it to shell out the cash, esp since I've found nothing that actually matches this ering closely enough, so I think for you it is worth it, especially since you were not happy with the previous setup either.

Right now I am debating whether to match the ering or the wband more closely, esp since I expect that the wband is going to be more permanent in this stack, and my brain says ering. Since funds aren't likely to come forward enough to allow an ering reset anytime soon, I don't know if Ill be doing that for a long while, OR a custom matching plain one either...but we'll see. I do want to go see if the Tiffany is a good enough match that goes with both again. I thought it did when I went the first time but I didn't leave it on that long to really try.

Since I was going with the U-113 that is a Tiffany replica, I wanted a Tiffany band to go with it. I think wedding bands are items that Tiffany happens to do exceptionally well, plus they have the best selection I have seen. It is worth it for me to pay for some of their plain bands or less expensive diamond bands. The very expensive diamond eternities, however, I would try to buy on ebay. I wear the 2mm Legacy band with mine but wouldn't mind another for variety eventually.

The only thing is that since you went with WG, a lot of the Tiffany bands are not going to work for you since most of the plain bands are platinum. So you'd have to find similar rings elsewhere in wg. But I do think trying on the knife edge band would help you decide whether you really want to order the matching Vatche band.

I feel your pain Ame. When I first started off with diamonds I wanted to match my wedding band while now I'm trying to match the ering. I have ordered the matching band from Vatche so that for once I have a 'true' matching set. Try to see how the Tiffany is again. Hopefully it'll be a good match. Problem is that for us good is not good enough and we need 'perfect' as we stare at our rings way too much ;)

Diamondseeker, you hit that right on the mark. If I went with platinum, I could match it with a variety of rings from Tiffany which I love so much, but then couldn't wear the solitaire with my other blingy rings that i have collected over the years including my original wedding ring, which are all in 18kt WG.
