Hi all,

I have just purchased a princess cut which is an excellent 2.29 G VS2.
I haven't been inspired by any settings that I have seen.

Also, who should I go to? I'm in Los Angeles. I really liked Victor Canera's work but he doesn't really seem to like working with princess cuts (based on the samples on his website and from speaking to him.

White gold, rose gold, platinum? I definitely do not want a halo.

Thanks

A g will look lovely in any colour. Are you looking at a solitaire? Side stones? Pave? Do you want it set traditionally or kite? There are a ton of other settings besides halo. Maybe take a peek on pinterest or the SMTB section of PS and see what you like.

I would like a solitaire. Probably set traditionally. No large side stones but maybe like a pave.

My biggest point of concern is the basket. I would like something that looks delicate. Will look at SMTB.

What's the best way to come into possession of a matching set of four fancy pink accent stones? I might want something like that if I can find them clean and well cut. Probably about .15 ctw.

I like a simple design with the princess, because it throws off so many of it's own sparkles.

What about this one (top on this page)? I think it's simple and delicate, but more interesting. You could do a regular split shank with a princess in this style, doesn't have to be the infinity look.

If you're going custom, you can always pick and choose things you like, present them and let the vendor come up with his/her ideas for you too.

I really like a ring I saw at Leon's website.

But he sort of has mixed character reviews around these parts. Also I'm not sure how happy he is going to be about my coming to him with my own stone. I requested a quote and the webpage had some comment on there that taking your own stone to a jeweler was like "taking your own wine to a restaurant, pay the corkage fee." While I do see the humor in that and appreciate it... I can easily imagine this corkage fee coming in over my budget.

No harm in waiting for the quote. If it's over budget, you can move on. That's a very pretty setting!
