what kind of RB can $5K buy?

hello all!! i posted here frequently about my cushion search, but now i am interested in RBs for my sister''s engagement ring. i''ve been talking at length with her bf and for whatever reason that doesn''t have to be discussed here, his max spending cap is $5,000. i know my sister has been doing some preliminary research on the 4Cs and would like a 1.0carat or larger diamond, but i''m curious:

what is the highest clarity and color for a 1.0+ carat diamond can a 5K budget can get - assuming we are ignoring setting costs (i think she wants a simple solitaire)? it has to have an excellent cut. i''m not sure what her thought is on an H-I-J colored diamond nor what her color sensitivity is. if a 1.0carat stone was not possible, what about in the .90s?

H SI1 is doable.

If you are not going for a H&A, probably a G SI1 or H VS2.

My friend just purchased a GIA certed 1.01 ct I vs1 stone for about $4800. It is a stunner!!! Check out james allen or whiteflash. You should be able to get a nice 1 ct stone for that price!
