Web page says 0.94 c but cert says 1.01- with a "Good" cut - E / VVS2
http://www.bluenile.com/round-diamond-1-carat-or-less-ideal-cut-e-color-vvs2-clarity_LD02426705?click_id=944258727

Selected: 64.3% depth, 61% table, 36.5° crown angle, 41.8° pavilion angle
The result is for a symmetrical diamond with a medium girdle and very good polish
HCA scores were adjusted Dec. 15, 2001 and Feb. 6, 2003.

HCA
Total Visual Performance 6.0 - Fair
Light Return - Good
Fire - Poor
Scintillation - Fair
Spread - Good

AND they are trying to sell it for $7,500

I don't know if I'm just delirious from lack of sleep or if that name is the funniest thing I've ever read. Either way, I lol'd. ;)

Edit: The symmetry is just perfection! Seriously, whoever cut that thing needs a medal.

LOL

But why is the IS mostly red with little white?

I wonder what it looked like before it went through the garbage disposal.

Isn't it Neil? AGS 10 Light Performance. :knockout: Perhaps the worst cut diamond to ever grace our lab. Butt ugly.

Look at the score for the metric of "Brightness".

Oh, but its got great spread! ;)

Rhino's AGS 10 wins this.

I know, do we have a video or maybe a regular pic??

Actually the score is greater than a 10! Brightness hits 10.70!!! :o

Sorry Neil. I can't post links to videos but yes, you can bet your bottom I shot this one for educational purposes. I'll see if I can find a pic.

Oh God. Unsee!

Ok Jon, you can't just post that without a narrative.

Where is this from? Was it put through the garbage disposal ? Did someone try to buy it? Sell it?

Inquiring mind Jon, inquiring minds. You have a captive audience.

I forget, whatever happened to dear Lopsy?

Wow! Finally a diamond worthy of Fred Cuellar''s constant complaint, "This diamond has a wavy girdle."

Sure. It was an OEC that came into the store and offered via our site "as is". There is of course a market for natural OEC's and there is a segment of consumers who seem to not care so much for optical testing on these and other cuts so we thought we'd give it the spaghetti test. :rodent:

In case people don't know what the test is for good spaghetti ... you throw it against the wall to see if it sticks. If it sticks it's good. If it doesn't stick ... no good.

We did in fact get many inquiries for it because of the very reason Neil pointed out above. It had an awesome spread for it's weight and is an excellent example why spread doesn't always equal best value when it occurs at the expense of optics. Ultimately it did not sell as is and is perhaps a caveat for offering the amount of information that accompanied it's webpage.

Thank you for your question Gypsy.

Warm regards,
Jonathan

One correction ... Fred Cuellar's complaint wasn't "wavy girdle". He actually used the term "warped girdle" which is odd because only malleable material like wood, etc. warps. Diamond doesn't warp. :twirl:

Well some ppl just don't know the difference between the oval and cushion!!!!

Loving this thread!

hahaha, id love to see an HCA on that, probably would come back unable to compute. Id say look for a match and make some earings :twirl:

Seriously, I want to know what on earth anybody would do with that diamond? It can't possibly function the way diamonds are intended to, i.e., purely as a thing of beauty. I don't get why anyone would buy it!

I don't have a diamond to post (although the one in this pic is filthy), but the setting below came in for us to 'fix' the split prongs done by their local jeweler.

yikes!!!!

Ugly!
