What is your favorite dog breed?

Like some of the other posters, I love all dogs. I love certain characteristics of different breeds and am happy that all dogs exist. One of my favorite breeds is, now, the breed I own: the Newfoundland because of how loving they are. It is impossible to find a breed that is more loving or wants more affection. That they are so huge and ask for affection in ways that only Giant breeds do (by leaning) only makes them more adorable. They are always ready to cuddle, even if you wake them up from a deep sleep while they are lying on their backs. And they feel like huge, thick, fur rugs!

I also love Golden Retrievers and Labs because they are so intelligent and exuberant. They have to explore every nook and cranny of a new building and greet every visitor to your home. They are always ready to run after a ball and to play. They are in hunt of bras on clotheslines and shoes left out by careless people who have an unconscious need to have their shoes chewed up.

I love Pit Bulls because they are the only little dogs who are strong and energetic enough to play with my Newfie! They are like fast moving armored tanks and Griffin doesn't have to worry about hurting them if he plays with them at full force! I love their square little heads. I generally find them delicious.

And I love any mutt with a doggie soul. I doggie essence. I love doggie smell. Dogs are something to live for.

I love Newfoundlands, if only I had a bigger house!

Standard poodles

Border Terriers, and I am bias, of course.

Mutts are the best! And so many need homes.

I love all dogs, but I'm particularly attached to mini-goldendoodles at the moment
I'm with you, Kenny. I don't know how I'll get over when he has to cross the rainbow bridge.

I love all pups, but I am partial to shih tzus. It's all I or my family has ever owned. I attached a photo of my little guy.

I also love pugs, french bulldogs, and pekingese.

He's such a good little beggar - it takes all of my willpower to say no!! Love the cutie in your profile photo.

German Shepherds.

I had two of them and lost both within 3 weeks of each other in 1994. I am convinced that Macho (age 9) died of a broken heart after Tessie (age 13) passed 3 weeks earlier.

I love Yorkies! Tessa is my second Yorkie - such a fearless dog in a small body! I love and admire her spirit. My first one, Chloe, lived to be almost 18 years old. She truly took part of our hearts with her.

I also had a toy poodle years ago named Tasha. She was ultra intelligent and such a lady!

The wee Scotties.....

I love them all, but if I have to choose just one...(and please allow me to make this one)

Shelter/Rescue.

We have a shepard mix and what we believe to be a purebread Poodle, both from rescues.

I'll see if I can dig up some pictures.

Shellies....by a mile.

I've had 3, and the last one was my heart dog....that dog of a lifetime that nothing else quite comes close to. He's gone nearly three years now, and I still miss him every day.

If I ever can bring myself to get another, it would have to be a Shellie.

A Labradorable, of course. Who could resist this deep thinker?

Beagle. Just the best...Oh and mine are always rescue beagles.

Golden retriever/Labrador retriever.

I love beagles ....I grew up with the sweetest beagle ever . It will be 4 years ago on Feb 6th that Skippy passed over the rainbow bridge at the age of 17 .
DH and I currently have a beagle/ cocker spaniel , Coco, that we rescued when she was 10 weeks old. We knew from the moment we saw her that she was a special dog and now she offers comfort and healing to patients as a pediatric hospital therapy dog.

Rhodesian Ridgeback - our boy is 8 years old now. He's one high maintenance pup but we love him! I'm also very fond of Viszlas and German Shorthaired Pointers.

I do have a sweet spot for mutts though.

I grew up with German Shepherds & continued to own them until my son was diagnosed with asthma at 1 yr old. I then did a switch to Giant Schnauzers after researching for 1 yr. I wanted a breed as similar in personality as possible to my first love and the Giant Schnauzer checked all of the boxes. I've now had four of them over the last 16 yrs & also did conformation, showing two of the dogs, exhausting but fun hobby!

I currently have two of my Giants & a Standard Poodle. There are so many breeds I would love to have! I need to live to 150 so I can have all of them :sun:

Short list of large dogs; Doberman, Rhodesian Ridgeback, Irish Wolfhound, Ibizan Hound, Black & Tan Coonhound
Short list of medium dogs: Staffordshire Bull Terrier, Standard Schnauzer, Bull Terrier, Miniature Bull Terrier
Short of small dogs: Affenpinscher

I may be getting a Staffordshire Bull Terrier pup, as a co-own with my dog show bestie. I really miss going to the shows & would like to get involved again. The pup would reside at her house but spend the day at work with me. Best of both worlds.
