If you drink alcohol which are your favorites?

My drink of choice is Dark and Stormy during colder weather
and a refreshing Tangueray and Tonic during the warmer months.
I am not a big drinker at all though.

My DH's favorite alcoholic beverage is Bourbon.
He loves both Evan Williams and Blanton's.

I also enjoy Reisling and Moscato.
I prefer sweeter beverages over dryer ones.

How about you? If you ever enjoy alcoholic beverages which are your favorites?

I used to drink very infrequently. My husband is sober now so I just don't drink at all, either. No big loss for me.

I used to enjoy a glass of wine when we went out for dinner (Fridays and Saturdays and Sundays so not infrequently) and I stopped drinking after realizing alcohol didn't really agree with me. Anyway I lost a few lbs just from stopping alcohol three days a week (only 3 glasses of wine a week). It is amazing how it can pack on the lbs. That isn't why I stopped but I didn't really miss it.

Now I have a drink occasionally if I feel like it but I am very picky about what I will have. Just depends on my mood. I do also enjoy Tequila. Straight up no salt please. :)

A few times a week, wine.

The list is a lot shorter for what I do not like - Pernod and Ouzo, and am not too keen on gin as the smell reminds me of an incident that happened over 30 years ago!:lol-2:

DK :))

WINE! My absolute fav is Stave & Steel bourbon barrel cab sauv.
I'm doing Dry Feb this month to raise money for cancer but otherwise I have a couple glasses a few times a week.

I love red wine. I would have a glass every night...but I limited it to one on Saturday and Sunday. I even measured out 6 ounces each. I know five ounces is a serving but I’m a rebel.. I’m now taking a beta blocker in addition to BP medicine so I don’t think it’s safe to have alcohol with them.. I recently bought some limes and diet tonic water..I plan to add a packet of Truvia to cut the sour....I’ll substitute with that when my husband has a glass of wine. When I was younger..Gin and Tonic..Beefeater or Tanqueray with a large wedge of lime.

I like Southern Comfort and Glenlivit (both straight) but my fav is dark ale, the darker the better...just not a Guiness!

I hardly drink at all any more. When I do I usually choose a glass of wine or a margarita, straight up with salt.

My tastes are broad. I love a good, dry martini - but also a chocolate martini! Completely different ends of the spectrum!

Love a frozen margarita. A nice oaky chardonnay. A big, Australian shiraz. A good cognac. . Aged whisky. Baileys and vodka over ice. Lime and mint mojitos.

Egg nog at Christmas, without a doubt!

Celebratory events - strawberry champagne cocktails, where the strawberries have been rolled in gold leaf.

And for parties - giggle juice! Recipe below. ;)) If you've never made this - make it. Trust me on this.

But...

MAKE YOUR OWN PINK LEMONADE. This makes all the difference!

@MamaBee - I'm on those meds, too. You can definitely drink while on them, just not to excess. A glass of wine or a cocktail won't hurt. If I go out to dinner, I'll normally have both, and I've never had a problem.

Here's cheers to you! :wavey:

I don't know about that, @MamaBee - but I'm on something similar to both of these and I've had some pretty 'big nights' while on them and - as I said - never had a problem.

BP meds aren't like antibiotics, when you absolutely cant drink while on them. And it's not like you have afib or a heart rhythm problem. Try one glass and see how you go.

Sorry for this de-rail, @missy!

@Bayek - I'm going to try both of those!

@missy - one day I'll get you and Greg up to MA, and we'll sit on the verandah and drink moscato while the boys do the barbie!

No apologies please!!! Please continue discussing anything you want ❤️

As for Moscato on the verandah please count me in @mrs-b ❤️

Of all time, it's a toss up! When it's cold out it's Founders Breakfast Stout. When it's hot it's the Sel Rrose Spritz (gin, fruit de la passion, lemon, grapefruit, and sparkling rose). In general I do love a carbonated beverage!

I rarely drink honestly.

I like citrus-y wheat beers with pizza or wings/pretzels/bar food.

If we have a dinner where I use wine to cook, I may pour a glass, but not often.

My other half does not drink any alcohol at all, so it feels strange to drink when he is fully dry.

And I'm going to try a chocolate martini! sounds awesome and I to love a dry martini with Hendricks, Bombay or Tanqueray in that order! yum, of course one martini, 2 at the most! you know the rest :)
(of course at my age, if I'm under my host they will have to get a crane to get me up! ;-) )

My go to is either a very cold Prosecco, or a pink gin with slimline tonic, ice & a big hunk of fresh lime squeezed into it.

Special occasion is a nice champagne, such a Tattinger or Bollinger. Super special occasion would be Dom P.

Mr T & I only have a drink on a Saturday evening though, as a bit of weekend treat. Occasionalky I might have a sneaky gin on a Friday night if I'm sat watching TV alone, as often Mr T & the girls will play video games together that night.

White Russian. I could drink them all night except they give me migraines so I very very rarely drink anymore. 7D8D9133-4025-4704-9DF1-A40C06575DDA.jpeg

Merlot...

Watered down American beer when I'm eating buffalo wings! I dont like heavy beers or anything fancy in beers.
(I dont water it down...DH just claims most the American beers I like are watered-down).

My husband an I both drink....a lot. A shared bottle of red wine every night. We also drink Jack and diet (whisky and coke) when we are out or wine.

My favorite thing to drink is champagne or Prosecco, anything bubbly. I like a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon in the evenings a couple times a week.
My guilty pleasure is an occasional White Claw while cooking dinner.
If we’re out with friends, (non-pandemic times) my go to order would be a vodka lemonade, or a lemon drop martini.

I love wine, especially if I am cooking dinner or out at a restaurant. I also love a lemon drop martini. I have 3 small lemon trees and they have the best lemons. Whatever drink I’m having, I use a fancy glass because I love a good looking drink.

All-time favorite - Manhattans with Japanese whiskey instead of typical rye.

My favorite recipe is with Suntory Hibiki, Cocchi vermouth, rhubarb bitters & a Griottines cherry with a few drops of cherry juice served chilled

Gary's dad's family was Irish
They all immigrated to NZ with their own young families
One uncle was a merchant seaman
Years ago i asked him what American beer was like ?
He said weak as P*ss just like NZ & Aussie beer - but you get used to it !

I usually have some buds in the fridge alongside some Speights gold from down home
