I was thinking about this this morning how it seems that everyone has a different cure.
I always drink or eat some dairy to coat my stomach and then take 2 midol and then a full nalgene of water (at LEAST).
What do you do?

never had one yet. :P

I''ve never been drunk and have never had a hangover.

In Scotland it is a bottle of Irn Bru!

It taste as awful as it sounds!

I stick to 2 paracetamol and lots of water. Then contemplate food when I feel up to it!

Don''t get drunk.... Works every time.

Back in the day I alternated, 1 beer, 1 glass of water. Doing it that way took forever to get a buzz, and I stayed hydrated. I peed like a crazy person tho.

I`ve never been drunk or hungover either- but my mother (yes.. my mother - she doesn`t do it often, but she can shoot tequila like someone much younger than 54) swears by a big glass of milk and a couple of tylenol before going to bed.. she claims she never feels bad in the morning

Having a hangover implies she already drank, so this advice doesn''t pertain to her.

I eat a bagel and cream cheese, along with motrin, and then orange juice. I also think fresh air helps!

Thank goodness! I thought I was the only one who was going to admit to having had a handover before!

I honestly thought I was going to be sent to the naughty corner to hang out with Sue Ellen ( a drunk, a lush and an unfit mother, to quote JR). No one who is under 40 need even read this last line!

Water and time.

Kenny,

Come over and join Sue ellen and I in the naughty corner! lol

Alka-seltzer works hangover miracles, seriously. Alka-seltzer dissolved in a massive glass of room-temperature water as soon as you wake up, then more plain water as you can stomach it. If you''re throwing up, then every time you do, repeat the A/S step. But definitely water, water, water. Chewing on Vitamin C tablets can also help get the bad taste out of your mouth.

Then.. take a shower, take a nap, go to Waffle House for some greasy hashbrowns in the afternoon, and you''ll be as good as new!

I drink as much water as I can before I go to bed. The next morning I like to eat McDonald''s breakfast and wash it down with a giant icy cold Coke.

I don''t usually drink much, a glass of wine here and there with dinner, but last night I splurged and had 3 bacardi sevens. I know, I know, I''m a bad kid lol But it seems like I get a hangover regardless of if I have 1 drink or however many, hence, why I don''t drink much

PREVENT it as much as possible. If you''re coherent enough, (or have a good spouse who is looking out for you) take 800mg ibuprofen followed by all the water you can get down....BEFORE you pass out for the night. It won''t fix all of it, but it reduces it immensely.

And yes, I''ve had hangovers. But I''ve only ever had one HANGOVER. It was in college, and I got massively drunk on homemade wine. Really BAD homemade wine. The next day was awful beyond my worst dreams, and I was astonished. You mean there are people who do this REGULARLY? Know what will happen and they STILL get drunk??? I''ve never done it again. So for a HANGOVER, I''m not sure if there IS much of a cure for that, but the small ones - the ones caused by one drink too much, those are pretty easy.

For the record, not much of a drinker. Never really was, that somewhat singular event in college notwithstanding, and I''m even less of one now. Alas, for some reason I can get the "hangover" one or two sips into a glass of wine, and there''s no pattern to it, so I never know when it will or won''t happen. Sad, ''cause I like a good wine, but I have to be so careful these days.

T2 I know we didn''t go to college together, but this is the EXACT same thing I always did. I''m not hitting the old bottle these days....

Oh Perry, don''t be so rigid. Let loose, have a blast and then get over it - no big deal

. As long as you''re not falling down drunk or throwing up, it''s a good feeling on occasion.

I have to confess that until my 40''s, I didn''t drink because I didn''t like the taste of liquor and the wines that were available here were so sweet. Fast forward to our anniversary trip to Europe (mostly Switzerland) where there was no such thing as a ''bad'' wine. Did we get drunk? No, but we had a great time.

Is that how all Icelanders approach a hangover?

Lots and lots of water.

I can''t remember the last time I drank enough to have a hangover...maybe a year ago? I drink a lot of water and then have a really greasy breakfast. Last time I had pork barbecue and hush puppies.

I have tried a lot of different things because I get a hangover VERY easily. Sorry Perry - but for some people "don''t get drunk" actually doesn''t work. I love beer and wine for a variety of other reasons besides getting drunk so I really don''t want to give up alcohol. I''ve gotten hangovers from as few as two drinks over many hours the night before.

Some things that I''ve found work well for me-

My best option is to stop drinking a few hours before I plan to go to bed and drink TONS of water between that time. I''ve found that if I drink anything within an hour or two of sleeping I tend to have a hangover the next day.

I''ve also very recently bought some B-complex vitamins to take before bed. Apparently B vitamins are cofactors in many of the reactions that break down alcohol in your body. If you have large quantities of the products of a reaction you can speed up the reaction to the products (i.e. breakdown the alcohol faster). Can''t say if this has worked yet as I really just bought them last week.

Also contrary to some of this advice - I have to be very careful about drinking tons of water the next morning. If I load my stomach with the weight of more than about half a glass of water I throw up within minutes- my stomach just rejects it entirely. I have to hydrate very slowly or I end up dehydrating myself even more by throwing up.

Also my go-to hangover food... Taco Bell. I have yet to find anything that tastes quite as good the next day, although as someone said greasy hashbrowns are pretty delicious too.

At my very first zoology lecture, 1st yr of university, our prof opened the class by teaching us the best way to not wake up with a hangover - a glass of water and a stick of celery with salt. He then proceeded to talk about drunk sex with someone other than his wife.

In anycase, if I''ve had one too many to drink the night before, I make sure I drink at least 3-4 tall glasses of water before hitting the sack. A hangover is caused due to dehydration. This is also the reason why we crave salty foods after a night of drinking. We eiher have a greasy slice of pizza before bed or wake up and go for a greasy spoon breakfast

Yeah. Emphasis on the stop drinking part. If I PLAN to drink, yes, I say, "Gosh, I think I''m going to allow myself to have X number of drinks tonight (usually 3. if I have 4 I''m tyin'' one on BIG time) I will drink them quickly, get the pleasant buzz, and then STOP. Hours before going to bed. I''m pretty sober before I hit the hay. Still drink the water and take the ibu though.

Funny little bit to show how little I usually drink. We go over to a friend''s on the weekends fairly often for a Saturday potluck. Been doing it for years. Anyway, one night I announced, "I just think I''m in the mood to get drunk tonight." My friend raised his eyebrows really high and snarkily said, "What, so you''re going to drink a WHOLE glass of wine???"

means you need more practice.

I am a hardcore drinker, when I do drink - a few weeks before my husband and I started dating, we did 12 shots (straight vodka, flavored I think) in rapid succession, and I had already been drinking vodka and Red Bull for a couple hours before that. Never got a hangover of any kind. I can hold my alcohol like nobody''s business

Chipotle''s Chicken burrito..mmm! And a big diet coke...

I haven''t had a hangover in a long time though because as someone else suggested, I stop drinking about an hour before we leave the bar and switch to water.. It seriously makes such a difference.

Gatorade and a pork roll and cheese sandwich. Don''t think pork roll is available in any state except Jersey. (Doubt most on here even know what pork roll is!)

I almost wonder if the reason it hit me harder than usual the next day is because dh and I have been working out and being healthier which includes about 100 ounces of water a day, I almost wonder if my system was just shocked when it got dehydrated!
Regardless, I doubt I''ll have more than a single glass of wine for quite a while! lol
