Hi Everyone!

I have found a ring that my gf loves but the price seems high for what it is. I'm new to this diamond shopping and have been researching as much as possible these last few days. Here are the stats:

18K white gold
2.33 total Carat Weight
Center stone is 1 Carat
VS1
J Color
Style is either Cushion or Emerald, can't tell by gf photo and she left store when I asked
$10,795

Don't know the quality of the cut because my gf was the one who was there. Also don't have a GIA report on it just yet , once I'm back in town to meet jeweler in person I will be able to get one.

What are your thoughts? Let me know if you have any questions and That can help you give a more informed answer.

Thank you very much, I appreciate it.

Florez

looks like a very large halo on that stone, so it is difficult to tell true market value without more info.

oh sorry- just saw your note, it is a one carat. have you taken a look online? you can try something like jamesallen.com it does not look like an emerald cut.

1 carat J/Vs1 run about $3k (at JA) (these are on-line retail numbers as comparison)

Cushion...same..$3k
https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/cushion-cut/1.00-carat-j-color-vs1-clarity-sku-805003

Most of the cost will be in the setting. I'm thinking that a decently made setting like that would be $4k+ but
it really depends who made it and how it was made. Hand forged by a master would be higher.

Henry Daussi makes a lot of halos with larger side stones. Google him and you can see some prices. I* think his
rings are decently made but dont know that much about them. Here is an example. 1.4 sides

Edit...David Klass could probably do it in the $3k-$4k range.

ID Jewelry used to carry some Henry Daussi settings but I cant find them now. Dont know if they carry them anymore.

I assume that Diamonds by Lauren can get them. You might talk to him.

That one that canuk-gal found is a great value. Daussi cushions are cut shallow which affects the look. Make sure
its a look that you like.

I'm going to link a few for you...you can look at the GIA reports and see how shallow they are. These are sold.

Only commodities like gold have a 'true market value'.

IDJewelry does still carry Daussi, and they have a ton in their ebay store- you can call them if you like any of them and they will give you a better price! I bought one a few years ago from them

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Henri-Daussi-GIA-1-99CT-Cushion-Cut-Diamond-Ring-K-SI2-Platinum-/381622547714?hash=item58da79f502:g:dj4AAMXQyfFR9sC4

this is a K color center but you can use this to look at their other listings, or you can just call them directly. Tell them what you are looking for, they get pretty good prices on Daussi cushions. Like another poster mentioned it has a very distinct look, if she likes that kind of center stone there aren't many others that look like it. Some love it, some hate it. I have seen some that are unbelievably beautiful and then some that looked like puddles of water- you really need to see it in person.

Good luck! :wavey:
