i have a very good friend that will be getting engaged soon. we have been looking online to get some ideas of what she likes. she saw one on Blue Nile that she liked. she wants to see some in real life so i need to know what to tell the associates in the stores. the ring doesnt make a complete circle, where the solitaire is, the band goes up right into the prongs of the diamond.

heres the setting that she likes

im not sure if the link takes you to the side view, but that is the view i need you to look at.
i am not thrilled with the way the prongs look on the side so i may talk to her about it, but she likes the way the band goes up instead of making a circle. what is this called and where can i find it in a store so she can see it in real life?

ETA: ask them to see various cathedral mounts, Its very pretty. I like it a lot!

V-prong, or U-prong cathedral.

i went on an image search and alot of cathedrals have the peice of metal below the diamond part making a complete circle with the sides of the band then coming up. she does not want that piece there.

so if i tell them cathedral, there will be both versions? with and without that part below the diamond?

I''m sure its a modify cathedral version but yes, when it slopes upward like that its considered cathedral "ish"
