What is this line in an IF diamond?

Hi all

Can you tell why there is a dark line in the middle of the diamond? You need to rotate the video to see it but I uploaded and pointed it out as well.

is it a reflection of the GIA inscription maybe? Not something you'll see IRL

Girdle reflection; the reflection of the faceted girdle within the diamond. It's more notable in magnified imaging than in real life, especially since the girdle on this diamond is extremely thick.

Thanks for the education @John Pollard. I learnt something new today I was so surprised by the dark line in the diamond as I have never come across such a line in diamonds of any clarity (caveat: I usually browse from FL to SI so I'm not familiar with I). MY first thought upon seeing it was this heart has a vein

In my opinion there's little chance of that. In 360 view, rotating the stone, I get the impression of a continuous reflection, cleft to point.

So, unless the inscription is a full a sonnet I'd speculate that it's a continuous reflection of the extremely thick girdle, possibly exaggerated by lighting setup and dark camera lens. Just my 2 cents, of course. There's no way to know without an in-person inspection - but this is a fun thread.

Try putting spot of bright magic marker on the girdle and see what changes.

If there's a higher resolution version of the image, and if it's the inscription, you should be able to read it.

I'd guess reflections of the GIA inscription.

The length looks right.
The size of the GIA font is right compared to the size of the font of the numbers looks right too, even though it's blurry in the yellow diamond.

What I'd love to do is to ask the vendor to clean the inscription and see what happens if I'm considering that diamond.
