what is SLP laboratory?

I think this topic has been once raised. I saw several tourmalines on ebay at prices too good to be true and certificates by SLP. Is it a legit lab whose certificates are easy to fake or is it simply not a good lab?

It appears that no one can verify the location/phone number of this lab, even Morecarats, who is situated in Thailand. MC couldn't find the lab's address even. The only vendor I have seen use SLP is gem-earth.

I don't know if that's a sister store of Gem-Earth, but even if the lab does exist, if the report, memo, is not verifiable, it's only worth the paper it's printed on IMO. They don't even have a website. Hypothetically, they could be a place that just produces forged reports. The bottom line is that we don't know enough about this so-called lab to make a good judgement on it.

I feel it's important to stick with labs that are well known for this reason.

I, too, have heard about the possible non existence of the lab. Given that fact, go with a different lab and if the vendor refuses, it’s not worth it.
