Hello,

After having shopped around various retail stores I must sadly admit that I''ve come across many rip-off''s.

So now I''m seriously considering turning to online sites for loose diamond purchase.

My question is, what would be considered a good buy for a diamond unseen off the net?

I''m looking for a diamond that''s:
Cut - Ideal
Clarity - VS2 (because only 1 in 100 can see inclusion.. so it''s good enough for me)
Color - F (because to the human eye, it''s just as good as D and E)
Carat - ~1 carat (just because :P)
Fluorescence - None to negligible (although I can live with medium, and strong if it doesn''t result in murky diamond)
Polish - Excellent to Ideal
Symmetry - Very Good (I learned from this site that the symmetry can be Very Good and not better in order to get a better cut)
Girdle - Thin to Medium or Slightly Thick (since too thick will affect weight and spread adversely)

Beyond these, I would then take the diamond''s crown, pavillion, table, depth, and culet info and punch them into the Holloway Cut Advisor and expect a score of <2 (i.e. Excellent)

If I can find something online that matches the criteria above, would it be a good enough buy for a diamond that I haven''t seen off the net?

Thanks for taking the time to respond. Truly appreciate it.

well, I would look at this diamond.

It meets all your expectations, HCA of 1.7, comes from a very reputable vendor, and has a ton of documentation to go with it. Call up GoG and ask for more information on it, they can send you video and pictures in addition to the website info.

certainly its a fairly safe bet to be working to... But every inclusion plot is different, so its always worth asking about its eye cleanness...PS vendor are an honest bunch.

so a pricescope search (the box above) for Round shape - by cut quality, Excellent - Very Good cut, AGS0 Only, H&A Include, 0.95 - 1.15 cts, D - F clarity, IF - VS2 clarity, GIA and AGS certifie brings up 24 listings (ok the first option above only allows 1 selection, but you can widen the search on the results page.)
This by cut quality also does the HCA score for you.

I''ve attached the search results.
My personal choice would be the Whiteflash 1.07 F VS1 here
i know its a clarity grade higher..but is one of the cheapest stones, while being excellently cut.

I think you would be safe with the two stones already posted! Many of us have bought ideal cut stones without seeing them. The ideal cut part is what allows you to do it with confidence, along with using vendors with excellent reputations.

Ever a sucker for saving a couple of grand whenever I can...I think I''d at least consider the option on the bottom from the Lord from JA. It gets you there.
