What is brillianteering?

The diamond has at least significant crown painting for sure. Very visible in the video from the side and facelup

It is a bit of oopsie for the cutter.
1. Achieved 0.5c. check
2. Achieved ideal and gia ex proportipns. check.
3. Ex symnetry, and polish. Check.
4. Too much girdle treatment. F###

Thank you, that really helps!

Can brillianteering be done on super ideal cuts as well? Or is it intended for just mediocre stones to improve their quality?

All diamonds have some degrees digging and painting. In case of most super ideal cuts here, it is very minor.

WF once used to cut some ACA with high degree of crown painting to increase edge to edge brightness.

Painted

Classic girdle

You can easily tell in the IS amd ASET.
They do not do this anymore.

Thank you for the explanation. I definitely did see the painting on the first one - it looks very unnatural, odd even. The second one was the usual one that you see nowadays.

When it comes to diamond cut everything is a compromise.
All red IS marketing
Cheaper 8* alternative
Trade off was watery scintilation that gets GIA VG cut grade now .
