Black diamonds became popular just recently. As I understood they are used to create a strong contrast when combined with white or color stones.I didn't find much info yet. Yes, there really are black diamonds. They are very heavily included, and they are used more for a accent stones than as a major gem stone. Don't get me wrong, you can buy these in larger sizes, but most are fairly small.They sort of look like a piece on hematite. Hematite is a opaque mineral that exhibits dark gray to black color with a metallic luster (not always).------------------
