What if you are unhappy with a custom setting?

You are probably talking about my ring- my stone is an L and TBH my main stone looks way more yellow in that video than it does in real life- AND DK did not source my side stones. Those stones were the original side stones of my e-ring.

In the video I just received, my diamond plus side ones look really really warm! I can’t tell if it’s because the black background or it’s too magnified? It didn’t seem THAT yellow in person.

That background does nothing for the stones! Rarely do they look great in the videos. My guess is the focus of the video is the ring design not the stones, so they don't use lighting that emphasizes the sparkles. My last ring looked way better in person. Just wait till you see it in real life, you'll say "What was I worried about?"

I think it’s the magnification and that a camera and a screen don’t = the human eye.

I also saw you were concerned about it looking bulkier than you wanted, but I bet that it looks much more delicate in person as well. The pics and videos are so magnified! I only have an iPhone 7 (so not a huge screen) and ring pics are easily 2.5x bigger than actual size and if I am looking at something on my computer even more!

All this aside, if ultimately you don’t love your ring David will want to make it right for you.

I waited a long time to have my engagement ring setting redone and I am so happy with their work!

Hey @lagirlie, sorry you aren't feeling good. First and foremost I hope you get better soon. ;)2

Now about this video. Ahem, there is this site called YouTube where you can post and then hot link back here for the diamond addicts to see. We need our fix! :mrgreen2:

I also see more tint in my DK photos than IRL. But my girl has an H so a little is there. It was just magnified in the video.

Also, the entire CAD process and green plastic models felt bulky to me. Then the purple wax looked better. The final ring pics looked similar to the purple wax but then again IRL the finished product felt right to me and didn't have any of the bulkiness I was concerned about.

We look at stuff online so much, we get used to magnified views and don't realize it.

One thing Amy and DK reassured me was my satisfaction was of the upmost importance. At one time Amy said if it wasn't what we expected they would simply build a new ring the way we desired. So if you have any disappointments IRL I would advise you to communicate them to DK.

@lagirlie... Don't put too much stock in the video. The video of my ring was totally washed out and did nothing for the color of the stone, so I had the opposite problem you see with yours being too tinted. Just wait until you see it - I'm willing to bet you'll love it.

That is stunning!!! :love::love::love::love:

Can I post a picture of the ring i saw on DK instagram that made me think of it? the Ring is beautiful, but is something I'm trying to avoid. Or is that in REALLY poor taste as the ring owner may be on PS?

On second thought, I better not do it.

If it's my ring you mean, don't hesitate to use it as an example (step cut with deco style halo and side traps). The center is an M and I see color in the stone in some pictures, but rarely in real life (and when I do I actually like it because it looks pinkish to me). In David's video, the stone looks much different than it does out in the wild.

About the contrast; DK used single cut melee (at my request) and the traps are (if I recall) I/J color. I don't see any difference in stone color between any of it, center/melee/traps, it all matches perfectly.

Regarding it looking "bulky" -- I damn near had a heart attack when I saw the video! I thought, holy sh!t, one of the 76 Steelers lost the ring he got for beating the Cowboys in Super Bowl X and now it's being sent to me by David Klass! :errrr: But when I opened the box... it was pure love. Custom jewelry is a real leap for me, especially after Kelege and The Brick (talk about trauma/drama!), but David did an amazing job and I'm so glad that I trusted him.

I know this is a stressful process, and I hope you are absolutely thrilled when you get it for real! It's hard, but take a deep breath. Have a drink. And when it shows up give it a chance!

Amazing how you managed to mention the '76 Steelers, who has been named the best defense, yet also managed to bring in the '75 Steelers who beat out the Cowboys in Super Bowl X and was 2nd best! Well played, well played.

I love football, and especially defensive strategies. One of the reasons I am a Steelers fan is because of their superior defense in those years. Apparently my football and classic rock music tastes parallel those with much older souls than my generation.

For those that don't know...

In 2007, ESPN.com named the 1976 Steelers the greatest defense in NFL history,[1] noting, "the 1976 unit was the best (slightly better than the '75 squad). Here's why: 28. That's how many points the Steel Curtain surrendered in the last nine games of the season. That's a total. As a result, Pittsburgh, which started the season 1–4, made it all the way to the AFC Championship Game. It should be noted that only 1 of the 7 teams the Steelers played during the streak finished the season with a winning record (Cincinnati) and none made the playoffs. The Steelers' defense had Hall of Famers Mean Joe Greene, Jack Lambert, Jack Ham and Mel Blount. And eight Steelers defensive players made the 1976 Pro Bowl team: cornerback J.T. Thomas, defensive end L. C. Greenwood, Greene, Ham, Lambert, defensive back Glen Edwards, safety Mike Wagner, and Blount."

Sledge -- you and me, buddy! We should have a beer (Iron City Light, of course) and hang out some time! :cheeky:
