Again, another piece from my partner's deceased mother's jewelry collection.

Gemologist's comments:

1. OEC diamond
2. Carat: 1.834 - white stone
3. Color: L
4. Visible flaw
5. Suggests re-set diamond
6. Weight: 19.47 grams

Can you even imagine wearing this honker? It's so big that it looks Herman Munster-like on my hand. Yikes!

that's wild!

I don't really get the massive shank but I love the OEC and daisy part. Your partner's family has the best collection I've ever seen. Keep em coming!

Funny, but I never thought of it as a daisy. I always thought starburst.

In any event, it's just flat out uncomfortable to wear because it's so heavy and thick. Plus, it's such a dated style and overkill. The diamond is nice enough that we'll probably pull it and have it re-set before selling it. The ring will be scrapped for its gold value.

The diamond has a visible flaw, which we can address when it's re-set.

We're only halfway through photographing the collection. We should be finished with the remainder items within the next couple of weeks. There are approximately 6 bracelets, a bunch of rings, and a large opal pendant. One of the rings has two natural pearls that are gigantic. Separating the two pearls are a row of 6 small diamonds. Just to give you an idea of the size of that ring, the weight is 20.85 grams. The pearl ring pictured here is not the ring I'm talking about, but you get an idea of the size of the pearl.

The pearl ring pictured above weighs 8.43 grams.
The gold/diamond ring pictured above weighs 11.71 grams
Ruby ring pictured above is 6.52 grams.

Not pictured now, but will post when I have them:

1. Bracelet - 2 natural pearls, 6 diamonds, 14k - weight: 48.77 grams
2. Bracelet - Pave diamonds, 14k - weight: 21.58 grams
3. Bracelet - Opal, pave diamonds, gold (content unknown at present) - weight: 20.67 grams
4. Bracelet - Diamonds, turquoise, 14k - weight 26.73 grams
5. Gold coin bracelet - 14k - maker's mark "BAT" - weight: 56.14 grams
6. Large carved coral and 14k pin - weight: unknown at present

Not pictured, and will not post because the stones are poor quality:

1. Ring - jade, rubies, 14k - weight: 9.83 grams
2. Ring - rubies, red enamel ring enscribed "vitus junxit mors non separabit", 14k - weight: 21.80 grams
3. Ring - lapis, inscribed "NATO," 14k - weight: 15.92 grams
4. Ring - men's, jadeite, 14k, florentine finish - weight: 11.11 grams
5. Ring - men's, star sapphire, 14k gold- weight: 9.36 grams
6. Ring - men's, black star sapphire, 14k white gold - weight: 17.26 grams
7. Ring - 10 sapphires, 14k - weight: 8.45 grams
8. Earrings - pearl - cultured, 14k, weight: 6.82 grams
9. Earrings - enamel, 14k, late 19th century - very fragile - weight: unknown
10. Earrings: 8 sapphires, pave diamonds, clasp closure, 14k - weight: unknown
11. Cufflinks - sapphire, gold (content unknown) - weight - unknown
12. Earrings - nephrite, gold (content unknown) - weight: unknown
13. Cufflinks: 3 pairs - gold (content unknown) - weight: 71.32 grams
14. Tie pins - 2 - sapphires - weight: unknown
15. Bracelet - very old ivory - intricate and gigantic

I didn't include Victorian mother of pearl baby rattle/whistle or the 10 (or so) sterling silver pieces...or even some of the costume jewelry that might have collector value or the Omega watch - blah, blah blah - you get my drift.
