What home improvement projects are you working on?

We just moved at the end of February and we’ve done a few things so far in our new house.
We had the entire house painted including the ceilings, added wood floors to the study to match the other wood on the first floor (I’m not crazy about the floors but it’s too expensive to change it right now), changed all the upstairs carpet, put tile in the upstairs hallway bathroom, Jack and Jill bathroom and laundry room. We also purchased a new refrigerator, washer and dryer.
Last week we stained the deck and I changed all the kitchen knobs to pulls. We even changed out some recessed lights and made them into pendant lights.
We have carpet on our stairs now and I was going to change it out but it seems to match okay with the new carpet upstairs so for now I’m leaving it.
We also changed the stair balusters from wood to black iron. Below are before and after pics of the balusters with the new paint- we went with Repose Gray from Sherwin Williams.
We still have a few things we want to do inside but right now I’m going to work on a little landscaping outside. Mainly I have a deck and want to cover the dirt underneath it with rocks and do a little bit of landscaping. The backyard has absolutely no trees or shrubs.

We just bought a new vinyl shed to replace the rotting wooden one in the backyard. Trying not to spend money but the roof on the shed looks like it might fall in at this point so.....

Of course it's going to rain Thursday Friday and Saturday. We also have a woodchuck that has a burrow under there so this should be good times.

We want a full report including any footage of the fleeing rodent.....

I must say I am a bit concerned that Woody might launch an attack!

Growing up in PA, we had groundhogs (I think they are the same animal?) in the yard every evening, looking for grubs in the grass.
I thought they were adorable! I bet your woodchuck is awfully cute.

@stracci2000, he is cute, the kids love to watch him in the yard, we also have a bunny but I haven't seen him in weeks.

We are limited for options because anyone we call in will euthanize because you can't relocate wildlife. We can't relocate him because it's illegal (although my neighbor did this without a problem). My only serious concern is getting bit and then having to get rabies shots. Can you imagine dealing with that now?!

Love what you've done. It looks great!

Maybe your neighbor is up for another groundhog relocation adventure?
That may be your only solution. But may be mama and babies in the burrow. Gee, what a predicament.

They say the best time to plant a tree was five years ago. Well I did do that but we moved homes so had to leave quite a few trees behind.

I love our new house but I miss my plants. First thing I did was to scramble and get my trees planted right away.

This is a Flicks Yellow Pomelo. Ran out of soil for the other Pomelo tree! Must buy more!

Ok, Yada, what happened with the woodchuck?

This was the first day:

Second day:

The third day we caught nothing and then again today there was another squirrel. No woodchuck but we were able to put the new shed up without a problem.

Are you a Seinfeld fan? We never really talk about important things like sitcoms lol!

Btw for anyone reading both animals were released without harm back into our yard :)

Not me but my Mom, she's replacing her own deck! The deck is NOT small, it's the entire backyard and all around the pool. She's DIY all the way. She's nearly 60 and crushing it! IMG_20200503_220214_01.jpg

Aw, those critters look upset! It's funny to see a possum in the daylight.
I like Seinfeld (who doesn't?) but I admit that I didn't see much beyond the first season. I had a baby and a toddler at that time, and my brain was mush.

@stracci2000, I felt so bad for them, the squirrel was going crazy and I was afraid to let it out for fear it would turn around and attack.

We are not DIY people, yes we have a shed but not without incident, for example I got hit in the head with a sledgehammer today, don't ask but yes I am okay.

So when you had little kids I was in and graduating from high school! How crazy is that! I love all of it...Seinfeld, Cheers, Frazier, The Office, love them all.

First thing I did when this quarantine started was to clean out my pantry. It has turned into a catch all for all kinds of random things and I needed space to put additional supplies to hunker down at home. I never realized how much storage space I actually have... :o

Not home improvement but a major work we just completed. We've always wanted a tree house/playground for the boys, we have a huge backyard but wasn't spending much time there. Figured no time like quarantine to finally bring that to life. We found this on sale online, and despite the initial shock of "what the hell were we thinking?" when we laid out all the parts on our desk, we finally finished it over the weekend.

Making the best out of quarantine and the time we get to spend with the kids at home.
