AGS000 ....

What does that mean?

someone posted that an AGS000 means:
Ideal Polish 0
Ideal Symmetry 0
Ideal Proportions 0
What proportions are factored into this - is it just the cut?

This is the diamond in question... my jewelers tells me its an AGS000 but on the certificate it was graded an AGS1 for the cut. which would mean its not an AGS000 - am I correct?

AGS#: 9510901
Report Type: Diamond Quality™ Document
Shape and Style: Round Brilliant
Measurements: 6.99 - 7.04 x 4.31 mm
Cut Grade: AGS Excellent 1
Color Grade: AGS 1.5 (G)
Clarity Grade: AGS 6 (SI2)
Carat Weight 1.293
Fluorescence: Negligible
pavilion angle is 41.1, crown is 34.2
Comments:

I appreciate any clarification i can get... i know i posted this in my other thread but thought i may get more specific answers by starting a new one just on this issue.

thanks!

you know what... i think my jeweler is the one whose confused... im looking at the cert and it shows this diamond''s polish and sym at 1 (excellent) and the cut is also a 1. its clearly an AGS1. He keeps calling it an AGS000 and doesnt realize that an excellent grade is not the highest in AGS.. ideal is.. which is noted with 0''s.

Initialy, AGS000 meant D color, IF clarity, and 0 cut grade.

However, consumers came to interpet it as meaning cut grade. Cut grade for AGS used to be comprised of three elements: proportions, symmetry, and polish. If each earned a 0, the end cut grade was a zero. Hence, most people mean ideal proportions, ideal polish, and ideal symmetry when they say "AGS000".

AGS cut grading is a deduction-based system, so any deductions from zero affect the total grade. Accordingly, if a stone earns 0 proportions, 0 symmetry, and 1 polish, the cut grade is 1.

Hope this helps.
