Would you call this an Art Deco setting? Or is it an 80's setting.

Mid century?

Lmao! I'm considering it for a Rhr!

Yes, it looks 50's/60's to me!

I think ballerina style which became popular in the 1950's/1960's, so Retro period (if that is an official period/style)! Beautiful ring!

Looks 70s/ 80s to me. That's where I associate ballerina settings

Is this a Heidi Gibson ring? She is LA based and I follow her on IG and she does a lot of rings in this style, they are drool worthy!

Hg seems to be making quite a lot of money making designs based of ballerina settings. It's funny they were once the epitome of gaudy 80s style but now they are back in fashion. I'd doubt this is her work, but she pulls a lot from vintage designs. My sapphire ring could have been a heidi Gibson too, but it was definitely from 1983 lol.

Settings like that became really popular in the late 50's/early 60's as cocktail rings, as well as insert style guard rings for engagement solitaires to slip into as well. My mom had a HW style with tapered baguette on either shoulder, a fishtail head for the 1.5ct center, and the insert guard ring was all baguettes in a sunspray pattern like this. However, who knows how far back the style goes. Halo rings were popular way back in the late 1400's, and the baguette cut first came into fashion in the early 1910's!

Wow!!! Just clicked on the link! It's not by her, but I can see the resemblance! I gotta say that I love the fringe coverage and I feel so glamorous wearing it!

My first thought was also mid-century. It made me think of the cosmic design motifs from that era:

But... that "ballerina" design also seems to fit the bill!

Either way, it's a lovely ring. I'm glad you're enjoying it!

Hi. I don't own it yet. Still on the fence.
