I was curious about finding out what some screen names mean. I see some people's names, and often wonder what the significance of the name is.

Please post the meaning of your PS screen name.

Mine is simple. Before FI proposed, I wanted my e-ring to be princess cut diamond really badly, so I came up with princessplease referring to please get me a princess stone.

In sanskirt, Kama means desire. I first learnt of the word when I was around 10, and it sounded beautiful to me. Even more so when I asked me father what it meant. It''s always resonated with me, so it was only fit when I was lusting for a pretty rock

I love Sanskrit names--really the meaning behind them--for women. In fact, FI and I already picked out one for our future daughter (if we have one).

I always loved the idea of this great, strong woman who could bring pause to even the greatest of heroes ... and I always thought there was something funny about the whole turning-men-into-pigs thing. For years and years when I blogged, I used a variant of the name, and my tag-line was "Turning men into pigs, one break-up at a time." Of course, then I got married, and put an end to all that, but I still like the identification. :)

Oh nice! I am curious to know what the name is, but you dont have to share if you dont want to (or you can tell me the english word, I might be able to figure out the sanskirt word for it).

Well, this tag has been with me for a long, long time...it intially popped into my life when I was a sales rep for an Italian brand of hair color...and, well, it stuck.

Most people automatically assume it''s because I''m Italian...which, I am 1/2...but its more than that!

Also starts with a K. Goddess of time. It's a city in Colombia where my family is from (except it's spelled with a C).

Mmm..I think I know the word. If you're solely keeping it for the meaning, then I have to ask you to google it with a 'ma' (which means mother) at the end of the word, because she's mostly known as the goddess of death/blackness. But if it's just purely for how it sounds, then it's sooo beautiful.

ETA: I hope I didn't ruin the name for you...

I just thought I should tell you, so it doesn't come as a surprise to you later.

Yea, we can''t use the ''ma'' but that''s the reason we chose the name. She''s the mother of all creation with one hand and destroying ignorance with the other. FI is an Eastern religion/philosophy nut, that''s how I know all this stuff lol

Kama: no worries at all. There is a lot of 'goddess of death' stuff on the internet, but the name goes beyond that. Supposedly she can be evil, but not...know what I mean? I brought this up to FI because I googled the name and wasn't loving the meaning. He has quite a few books on Sanskrit/Indian philosophy/history, and was able to put my mind at ease LOL. I would never name my child the goddess of death, unless there was a good reason.

sorry for threadjack

Yep yep, you''re spot on. She''s a destroyer of evil, she looks scary but is a nurturer. I just wanted to make sure you knew about her, and it sounds like you may know more than me! She''s a complex character, but very widely worshipped. LOVE the name!

Sorry for the threadjack!

First initial of DH and first Initial of my nickname (my real name is to long and funky and doesn''t start with T)

My name and something that I love

Mine''s a childhood nickname. I don''t know the origin, as my name doesn''t sound anything like "kitty" and I''ve never had a pet cat, but my family always calls me by it.

Lori = me
Ken = DH
214 = our anniversary day

Lori

Adi - short for my first name, that''s what most people call me (that or "Andy")
S - first initial of my last name.

nickname from DH

Mine''s a shortened version of my shortened name with a * added on for good measure.

Mine is for one of my all-time favorite movies, Hudson Hawk with Bruce Willis and Andie McDowell

Dani is my name (or nickname, full name is Danielle).

Gecko.... hee hee. Well, I''m always cold, and DH has always accused me of being a reptile. He wanted a nickname that was indicative of a cold blooded critter, and as he puts it, "Geckos might be cold blooded, but they''re cute! Just like you!" And so he calls me gecko.

Thanks mers. I saw some of those threads, but I know there are a lot of newer members, so I figured I''d ask.
Nice to hear everyone''s stories!!

I *think* I may have answered this before, but I''m not sure. Regardless, there are new members so its always nice to do every once in a while.

My name starts with an "L" and friends call me L-Dizzle, or L-Dizzy, so then it became elledizzy.

The 5 is my birthday.
