How does he want us to "help" with the situations in Darfur, and the Congo? (How can these countries be helped unless the military goes in there? Is he nuts?) I think we need to get the hell out of the middle east and heal this country before we go off into other nation''s business again.

It is unfortunate, but it is all but impossible to keep ''tribes'' from killing ''tribes'' -- whether it is Africa or the Balkan states. Genocide between ethnic, religious, political, idealogical foes, in their own country, is an impossible situation.

And we don''t need to stick our military foot in the door, even a little. Humanitarian help, yes. Military help, no. How much do you think we would have appreciated a foreign country coming to take sides and kick some a$$ during our Civil War? Exactly. Not at all.

Pity our leaders didn''t heed that bit of wisdom before they thrust us into Iraq...

Hahaha-ditto!

This is what the UN peace keeping force should be for - but they are a bunch of wussies.

Are we really going to revisit this again?

Well, it''s good that Iraq can be your ''Vietnam''; every liberal needs a war they can protest.

Why is it that I make a single comment alluding to the undeniable fact that Iraq is tribal, and all of a sudden we''re "revisiting" something? Absolutely amazing....

Yes, they are tribal. But, unlike Darfur, their problems and their past leader(s) have been a direct threat to the U.S. Therefore, we were "thrust into Iraq".

We were directly threatened? By what?? Non-existing nuclear weapons?! Empty words by a crazy dictator (hey, if we used that a a reason to invade, I could give you a list of many countries out there)?

Do you have thoughts that are not just a regurgitatioin of the network/cable news you watch? We''ve all heard that one before.

You certainly do not need to agree with others'' opinions. But what''s up with the hostility? It is the holiday season for goodness''s sake.

It''s not hostility. It''s a dislike of the flippant answer to a question I didn''t ask.

I just snorted. Pot. Kettle.

So did I, but I think we snorted about different people!

Is that all you got??? Blaming the media??? Glad you have secret intelligence that nobody is aware of. I know, the truth hurts sometimes. But I am not going to try to take away people''s illusions if those make their lives more meaningful. Too bad that it has cost this country hundreds of billions of dollars and thousands of lives. But hey. God forbid that we learn from our mistakes.
BTW - maybe you can discuss my idea of a UN peacekeeping force - wasn''t that directly answering your question???

And how do UN peacekeepers manage to keep the peace, if the governments of those countries are in chaos, and the UN delegations are not recognized or welcomed in those regions? As has been the case many times over.

What truth? What great truths do you know, that you feel I don't? That's what people say when they can't defend their positions.
