What do you think of this princess cut?

I''ve put a deposit down on this diamond and wanted to get your opinion on it. I can get my money back with no problems, but wanted to secure it so that it wouldn''t be gone by the time I decided.

It is a:

GIA 1.53 Princess Cut
Measurements: 6.81x6.46x4.69mm
Color: F
Clarity: SI2 (no visible inclusions from the top)
Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good

Table: 71
Depth: 72.6

No Fluorescence

That''s all the information that I have now. Based on this, do guys notice any major problems?

The measurements seem to be more rectangular but when we saw it today it wasn''t noticably rectangular... atleast not to me. My husband noticed it a little. The color is beautiful though.

have you seen this stone in person? I usually would find a stone min with very good symmetry

ETA: oops you did see this in person but have you seen it in several lighting condition? sometimes you only get to see it one type of lighting and its usually the one best lighting picked to show the stone's beauty. So best to check in low lighting, outside, etc. But if it looks good to you then that is all that matter, however, fancy cut is harder to tell you need images to see how much leakage it has

Thank you for your response. Yes, I saw this in person and saw it in 2 different types of lighting. We saw it in their office which is more dim and not as bright as the sales floor then of course on the sales floor which of course it looked a lot prettier. I''m not concerned about the inclusions really, the only thing that was kind of bugging me which I didn''t indicate above was that the girdle ranges from very thin to thick. However, the sales lady assured me it wouldn''t chip or break during setting, but I''m not sure if she was just trying to sell me the diamond or was being truthful. It was at solomon brothers, by the way, which is a vendor on pricescope I see.

Also, the saleslady was supposed to find the original GIA report with the more detailed information and send it to me, but so far she hasn''t sent it yet. I wanted to plug the numbers into the Cut adviser calculator to make sure everything was okay. I''m going to call her tomorrow and get that from her-hopefully. I will not continue with the purchase unless I see that. It makes me a little nervous, cause the price was pretty good, but then again they have a lot of pretty decent prices.

Sorry for the long message... haha, I want to be sure of my purchase since my husband didn''t do too much research when he got my first diamond... which wasn''t a bad diamond but he probably could''ve gotten a better one for about the same money.

You can''t use the cut adviser on a princess. Also GIA report are not useful in predicting the cut performance of a princess cut.

OH my, that though crossed my mind once that you couldn''t use the cut adviser for princesses, but I wasn''t sure. Thanks for telling me.

So, my husband was thinking round might be better because it shows more brilliance. To stay at the same price point, I''d have to decrease my size to 1.25-1.35 but I could up my clarity to SI1 and cut, polish and symmetry to excellent.

What do you guys think of this option? Will that size look pretty small compared to the 1.5 princess cut? I currently only a 3 stone 1 carat center princess cut, but I wanted to change to a solitaire with as big a stone as possible.

My main concern about going the round route is the smaller size and how it would look as compared to the princess cut.

For princess, the only lab that cut grade the performance of it is AGS so you might do better by asking the vendor to call an AGS0 in?

Round, it is easier to make prediction by numbers but eye-clean is eye-clean, although it is more common in the SI1 grade. Symm and Polish can range lower to VG as it is almost impossible to tell the difference between that grade and Ex without equipment and training.

Size wise, depends on the face-up measurement. A well cut round of 1.35c should have a diameter of around 7.1mm

It depends on what you want, the diamond isn''t cut to top standards, what I would do is order an ASET scope if you have time and want to check this diamond out further for cut, they are easy to use.
