Hello,

I was originally looking for a MRB, but stopped my search when I couldn't find anything that fit my budget and decided to save money.
I have been looking at pictures of everybody's beautiful rings and now I'm interested in old cuts as well.
I found out that singlestone is going to have a trank show at a jeweler near my old work next week, so I made an appointment to see Ari.
I've also been looking on eBay and am interested in this stone.
Could you experts tell me what you think of this stone?
I don't have much interest in this setting. While I love some antique style settings, my first choice is still the Vatche Caroline.

Oops, forgot to post a picture.

I saw that one on ebay. Looks nice. But with that seller, just make sure you have a money back guarantee. He sometime overgrades a bit on color and clarity.

I like it from that one pic.

That said, negotiate (message the seller) a return policy. 3 days minimum.

I always just say that I can't buy a high ticket item on ebay without a return policy.

If you're in NY, you may also want to go see Old World Diamonds - they have some beautiful stuff!

I was considering this diamond as well and I liked it. But seller ... I don't like so much.

I don't know too much about OECs (yet) but those have grown on me, and I'm a man! I wish I knew about those when I was looking for an E ring for my fiance. It would have been a toss up between OEC and MRB.

Looks very pretty. Make sure there's a full refund policy in place with no restocking fee.

I just contacted the seller. Thank you for your advice.

That's true. $16000 is too much to spend on an item you're not sure about. Thank you.

I totally forgot about old world diamonds! I'll check their website and see if I find something interesting. Thank you.

Thank you for your reply. Have you had any bad experience with the seller?

My husband is getting sick of me trying to show him a lot of videos and pictures of diamonds! However, when he saw a video that showed an OEC next to a MRB, he was like "I like that one (OEC), something is different". Your fiancée is lucky that you're interested in diamonds and have some knowledge! Why don't you get her an OEC for one of your anniversaries ;)

I just contacted the seller. I hope they will give me enough time to take the ring to an appraiser. Thank you.

I know this question was posed to Charmypoo, but yes I had a bad experience with them. You are referring to the seller em--re26? This is where private messaging would come in handy.

To give some history, they are basically a pawn shop. And while they have some great items, they tend to overgrade a bit. Lately, I have seen more things being returned that from my eyes were not graded properly. I bought a diamond ring from them that was supposed to be 1.50 carat SI1 G. It turned out to be 1.41 carat SI2 G-H. This was before ebay gave better protection to buyers. They did not have a return policy and would not take it back.

I'm sorry that you had a bad experience with them. Thank you for sharing the important information with us. I got a reply from the seller through eBay message saying they have a 14 day return policy without a restocking fee. I don't know if I should pull the trigger. I am hesitant to buy something very expensive without any certification.

If you look at their items, they have another OEC. This one is smaller, 1.89 carats I believe, and less expensive. But it does come with a GIA report. Are you looking for a particular minimum size and price range?

As far as this seller, if he is now allowing 14 days return, then that is great. If the item is not as described, you can send it back. One good thing about the OEC you are looking at is that in reading other posts, a few people had that one in mind as a nice choice.

I, too, purchased from this seller and be aware that returns are by a check and take quite a while to receive. The woman who answers the phone is unhelpful and rude.

Thank you for the suggestion. I took a look at the diamond, but I am more drawn to the one I posted earlier. The seller got annoyed when I asked some questions about their return policy and process. I do not think I'll buy from this seller. I'm very disappointed.

I'm sorry that you has a bad experience. Maybe it's better to stay away from this seller.
