There''s a diamond that I''m interested with a depth 61.7% and table of 58.5%. Color and clarity are fine. This is what the HCA says:

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Very Good
Total Visual Performance 0.7 - Excellent
within TIC range

I''m interested in this stone, and also an OEC of a similar size (both about .60) and I''m having a hard time choosing.

Hi Indy, do you have the crown and pavilion?

Can you get and ASET or Ideal Scope image?

I''m sorry, but that''s about all the information I have. I do trust the seller, and its not a "major" purchase, so I''m ok if this diamond is less than perfect. Is this too little information to determine anything?

what info did you use for the hca? it reqires crown and pavilion in either angle or percent

I did it with those parts blank, and it still worked. Maybe it guess-timated? Does it work that way? Oh dear...I feel so lost when it comes to diamonds. I spend so much of my time over at colored stones, that I haven''t quite developed my knowledge of diamonds. Past "oooh pretty!!" I can really say much else about them.

I feel exactly the same way when I venture over to CS

Unfortunately we can't really say much with just the depth and table, and I wouldn't trust an HCA with standardized inputs (I wonder what it uses?). Have you seen it in person? I think this is might just be one of those cases where if you love it, you love it

Try putting it on your hand or on a brightly coloured sheet of paper, and if you see colour through the stone - under the table - that's leakage. I think it's a bit harder to see than a gem window - maybe it's the fact that the stone is coloured, but that's usually so very obvious!

No idea how you get those numbers then. The score is useless in that case, garbage in garbage out.

Drats! Hmmn, back to square 1? Maybe I should post a picture, would that help?

Don't you have the report number and carat weight for the stone?

Its .59 carats and it doesn''t come with a report.

Thanks for the link Stonecold!
