what do you think? 3 carat E I1

Nothing at the 3ct mark K-L color of any quality for $20k.

I really don't want to be the bearer of bad news, really I don't, but $20K Canadian isn't going to buy you a 3 ct in the J-K-L range. Our dollar is not at par with the US currency. Sadly. I suggest a few things..
1. Up the budget substantially because $20K Can. is roughly $16K US (& that doesn't factor in the conversion rate) or tax rate of whichever Province you are in.
2. Lower colour expectation
3. Buy smaller from a vendor you can upgrade with over time if 3 ct is your desired size. I suggest if you are going to spend upwards of $20K, go with Whiteflash as I find they have the least restrictive upgrade policy that would suit your needs. HPD has a great one too but are a bit more expensive generally & Brian Gavin diamonds as well (read their upgrade policy). A lot of the vendors you are looking at have a trade up policy of having to spend double. WF, BGD & HPD do not have a policy to spend double (check BGD ..they have some criteria for upgrading). If there is anything you like, be sure to reach out to the vendors to hold the stone for you.

Did a search with $20,000 max , J - M.

Edited to add: the stone Scarsmum found on Fourmine is worth asking them about. Ask for pics & a video.Twinning whips can be a good inclusion. Plus, it would be a Boxing Day stone. LOL

Yup. I would have to agree. You’re not telling me anything I haven’t figured out. Thanks for checking into all this. I think your right about going a bit smaller and better color.

.

I would consider D/E - I1, GIA & happy clarity characteristics that I would enjoy looking at.

Let me see ...

Must it be a RBC ?

.

Two carats ? WWW

I am looking at the '10X' view & seeing a hint of the dot on the table & nothing else.

HCA 2.4 - the crown is slightly too high & table too small ... it exagerates the most desired RBC characteristics here

I’d ask WF to put that 2.135 K stone on hold. They have a 3 mth flex plan option which will give you some leeway if new stones come into inventory that you might like better. You just have to spend $1 more for the upgrade (if I’m mistaken, others will clarify). The stone has nice proportions & is a good spread. Best priced out of the bunch. I would, me personally, not go to a modern M for size if I could hold off. I wear a J myself.

I may have missed this, but what colour metal are you putting the stone in?

Any news on the stone from FourMine? I’m curious to see it.

@princessk What's most important to you? PSers usually prioritize CUT over all other C's but it's important to realize that this might not be everyone's goal. We had someone who went a completely opposite direction of what most of us would do because his main focus was getting 2 carats for $8k I believe. In the end, size and budget were the main criteria and they were very happy with the end result. What are YOU willing to compromise on?

If the budget really is $20k USD: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-di...k-color-si2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-3507300

That has a HCA score of 2.1 which is borderline but acceptable to me personally. Call Martin Sheffield and ask him for a list of diamonds in your price range with a HCA score of less than 2. He has a 7 day return policy. Don’t bother emailing. You have to call and speak to him personally. I called and called and called something like 3-4 days in a row and sent like 5 emails.

I just confirmed for a 2.2 L from him with an acceptable idealscope image with no light leakage (ok faint pink bits at the edges).

Given a WF 2.1 ct super shiny diamond vs. an ideal cut acceptably sparkly-performing 3 ct diamond at rock-bottom prices, I will choose the bigger one simply because it is bigger, still sparkly and the smaller one can never out-sparkle its smaller size. Just make sure you are not intending to upgrade in future since you can’t trade in.

Call Martin and ask him what he has. No harm getting some quotes from him.
