I'm keeping an eye out for a friend who is looking for a 1.75-2.05 ish princess cut. I don't know anything about it. Thanks-- not much in the search engine either

What I* have found to be important, when searching for the Princess Cut is to look for the same mushiness/clustered facet patterns within the center vs. more broad faceting along the N, S, E & W sides of the stone found in Ovals & Cushions. Sometimes, the mushiness creates a true mess. I am going to do some searching & see what I find, if anything...

Thanks, she hasn't given me a budget, but her dh said the other night that 18k is too much (they are nearing the end of a huge total house remodel)... so I am keeping an eye out for her on preloved....

She isn't in a hurry so if anyone sees a firesale princess, let me know!!

@Matthews1127 love that one too!! @yssie oh yes, I see

@yssie i love that 1.48 were you pointing out mushy corners with that one?

Oh goodness no! I liked both of those :)

Crafted by Infinity’s princesses were sublime... always two-chevron, evenly-sized, stark and crisp, uniform obstruction pattern... it’s really too bad they no longer produce them :(

Ok. The first one seemed lifeless on screen but may be a dull video. I thought it was an example of a bad one :lol::knockout: lol

OMG a CBI princess?!?!?!!! I would have loved to have seen that!!

Paging @Wink to see if he has any pictures :)

re: available stones , isn't it Brian Gavin that has some of the most consistent 'Ideal cut' Princesses?

AGS 0 light performance.

To me the point of paying for a real diamond is the light show.
Most diamonds are cut for weight retention, at the expense of light performance.

There are simple tools like HCA and Ideascope that quickly and easily identify good and bad cut, but only for round diamonds.
The princess cut is too complex for a mathematical tool like the HCA, and ASET images are only as useful as your ability to understand them.

AGS labs grades the light performance of only a couple shapes, and fortunately princess is one of them.

If I was shopping for a princess cut an AGS 0 grade for light performance would be absolutely mandatory!
I would not even consider a princess graded by any other lab, including GIA.

Nothing to add, just here to read the comments, when it struck me:

@kenny I've been coming to understand that that GIA may not be the best/most reliable when it comes to grading light performance, but what about AGS's process makes it so that you MUST have an AGS report?

GIA doesn't even grade the LP of princess cuts, only rounds ... and their top grade for rounds is very wide and lets in steep deep rounds.

I didn't know this. I guess I was under the assumption that AGS would put out the same "certificate" that GIA would for fancy shapes. If AGS does a more in-depth analysis your comment makes more sense now. Thank you!!

AGS000 graded princess stones...

If they can* go down to an "I" color

does not bother me* though)

I would probably ask for some pictures of H and I colored stones together to see if an "I" will work.

Thanks, I'm passing them all along to her

My friend loved the WF aca princess cut.... 1.71 I. I don't know if she is ready to buy yet though.... this was the one she most enthusiastically commented on
