It is a hearts and arrows diamond from reputable dealer. edit- link http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/0.70-carat-j-color-si1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-212098

0.7 carat,j, SI1, depth 61.1, table% is 58% (i thought she said table depth was 51.1? but im looking at it and it says 58%), cutlet NN, girdle medium, shape round, cut excellent, polish and symmetry both excellent,

i attached the gia certificate. She put it into the HCA tool and said it scored under 2. Anything else I need to know? It has a feather. How bad is that? Its not noticible to the eye but will the diamond break eventually? Its just under $2000 is this a good price? Should i buy now? wait a few months then buy? Will things get cheaper around christmas? thanks! edit- also is J too yellow? this maxes out my budget, is there something else you would recommend similarly priced?

price seems about right. I like the angles, though if I could get a smaller table I would, but I am nit picking a little ;)

i would not wait, diamonds do not discount at christmas like other things may, they will only increase in price by then, so if you can buy it now i would.

my avatar picture is of a K.. so I do not think it is too yellow at that range. What is your total budget? setting and all?

what reputable dealer? Can you get a picture or ideal scope image? I would highly suggest getting both before making such a purchase online......The numbers looks ok, if you don't mind a larger table. Hard to give you an informed decision without images...

double...

What type of images should i request? Its james allen. this is the only image i have, here is a similar diamond on whiteflash for $500 more http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-2937168.htm,, total budget was supposed to be 3000 max but it will be more like 3600 after wedding band is included, http://www.jamesallen.com/engagement-rings/wedding-sets/platinum-thin-french-cut-pave-diamond-wedding-set-item-2382 is the setting i can afford that has other diamonds on the ring but they are g to h in color, how bad is that? will it make the center stone look yellow? Maybe I should go with a plain solitaire, but I know she likes the diamonds pave and i can get the band and engagement ring for $1600 which is more then I had hoped but doable.

an ideal scope. It looks good, but i would still wait for an ideal scope.

honestly i think you should get the diamond in a plain solitaire for now. unless you are getting married right away i would hold off on buying the wedding band until closer to the wedding. one, she might want to pick it out, and two, you can put a little bit more toward the ring.

I still think for someone who isnt too educated or into diamonds, a J-k is a nice compromise to get a nice sized stone.

this one seems pretty white for a k, and you could afford a pretty nice plain solitaire. and still keep it under 3k. Is there a reason you want to pay for plat? is she allergic?

The diamond looks good. A 58 percent table is fine with a depth of 61.1 percent. Many here prefer tables in the 54 - 55 range. But it's important to remember that the proportions have to work together. And there's also a certain amount of personal preference involved. For example, to my eye, diamonds with smaller tables show more contrast and can look dark. Diamonds with larger tables (if the other proportions of the stone are balanced) appear brighter. James Allen will provide Idealscope images if you ask. Idealscope images will show you the stone's light return, which is one measure of how well the stone's proportions work together to produce a beautiful stone.

ETA: Shallower diamonds, i.e., diamonds with 60 - 61 percent depth, may show less color than deeper diamonds, i.e., diamonds that are closer to 62 percent depth. On Pricescope, we typically do not recommend that you go much above 62 percent depth. The deeper the diamond, the smaller the face-up size (diameter).

I definitely wouldn't consider a 58% table large. It's well within ideal range and the proportions of this stone appear to work very well together.
