Did you see this one on Leon Mege? 1.24 I vs2 $6500 No pictures yet. or GIA report showing.

I know this one is out of your price range but it faces up like a 2c cushion. Nice.

How about that faceting?

I was so surprised at how appealing a GIA K color was when I saw one in a jewelry store one time.
I was like: "Oh, that is beautiful!"

thanks for the help. the "I" color doesn't really do it for me.

and the other one is definately out of budget.

but thanks!

ok. i'm just a little clueless as to why this is the consensus? the dark spot in the middle at certain angles? i spoke to mark and he had his other 3 gemologists review it and no one saw any problem with the dark in the middle and explained that it was the cause of just a poor angle. he also stated that in my price range this cushion is about as good as it gets (also adding that it has the most brilliance out of the other options).

Given this I think it is worth seeing in person. Shipping is not that big a deal. ERD send it to you, you pay taxes (like with any purchase in Canada). You like it, great. If you want ERD to make a setting for you, ship it back with ERD's help and a FedEx label, then have it set and sent back to you -- they mark it as return and repair and you do not pay taxes again. You don't like it, ship it back get your refund get your taxes back. Small inconvenience for the savings.

Tell me: Why do you want a cushion? What is it about the shape that appeals to you? Because there are different cuts with different stengths. In my humble opinion, cushions are not really the one you go for if you want perfect optics. There are too few cut really well, and the ones that are, will cost about double what this one costs for the carat weight.

well the worst i'd be out is that i'd have to pay to ship it back, which isn't cheap from canada! probably like 200$ including insurance.

i want a cushions because that is what she wants. she likes how it looks and she likes the HW halo type setting that goes well with it.

See, I like this one! To my eye, the light reflection is more pleasing and visually attractive to me than the ERD one. Perhaps ERD can provide a similar video angle as the GOG video angle so that you can get a better comparison? I think that the fact that the ERD video has a black background affects the way the light reflects. But if Mark says the stone is good, then I'd trust his eye.

The problem is that there are so many variables involved in this situation that I think it will be difficult for you to really *know* until you actually see the stone.

i think the light performance is good in the 1st part of the video, but then i'm not crazy about it when the lighting switches around midway through. the sparkles are kinda tiny i feel.

Did you ask ERD what it would cost using their FedEx label, if they offer that? I have always paid about $50 - $75 with other PS vendors. And even if it is $200, that is a drop in the bucket compared to the probable 50% you are saving on the diamond over buying locally.

You can't have it all: You cannot save money buying in the US, not deal with shipping, find something immediately, get a 1.3ct stone, get G color, and get perfect optics. Its asking too much! You need to prioritize and go from there.

I thought you were the woman, "princess" is how I read your name ;)) What about dropping carat weight to the 0.80 to 1ct range, then you can afford a branded cut like the square hearts and arrows or a princess of hearts. Neither is like a HW cushion, but then neither is this one from ERD. The HW cushion is a basic crushed ice style. Your girlfriend may not understand how hard it is to find a cushion like she wants.

Re: What do you guys think about this cushion (pics, ASET &

hi dreamer. i get what you're saying. to be honest, the stone would cost me LESS in canada. certain discounts when you pay with certain forms of payment if you catch my drift. so i would actually be spending more to buy from the US.

i can drop to about 1ct, i saw some diamonds beside each other and 1ct some of them faced up quite well. i never NEEDED 1.20ct, but then again, i don't want to pay 7k for a 1ct either.

and you're right, she definately doesn't understand. because i don't even understand and i've done countless hours of research myself.

Re: What do you guys think about this cushion (pics, ASET &

I get your meaning and strongly advise against it. I have used those discounts in the past. It is very risky for buyers because when you pay that way, the vendor does not want a paper trail and will not usually provide a receipt. The consumer is then without any proof of what they paid and often without any recourse if things go south -- and for some reason, in situations with vendors who work that way, it seems like things can go south easily. My advice is to always have everything in writing, and only work with a vendor that offers a 100% money back policy for all diamonds, at least one week.

I also wouls be surprised if a stone of this cut quality was available in Canada. See the goods in person before you assume that it is like kind and quality!

Very good points to seriously consider.

Looks nice dreamer. But I think I found something locally this morning, good this too because the one at ERD sold today as well.

The one I saw today looked like everything I was wanting at around the right price, although final negotiations aren't done yet. It was. Y far the nicest Ive seen yet. Making the final negotiations mOnday and should be taking it to an appraiser. You guys recommend taking it to an appraiser correct?

Yes GIA. I don't have a copy of it on me but it looked extremely similar to the specs I posted in my original post (the one from ERD). It looked spectacular. There wasn't 1 thing about it or on the report that concerned me. I can keep posting details if you wish.
