What diamond, gemstone or pearl projects do you currently have?

....or are planning to have soon? What's on your long term project or wishlist?

Since Xmas is coming soon and the economy has started to recover (despite the recent market correction - or at least I hope it's only a correction), I thought it might be fun to see what everyone is planning / hoping to have, or at least see what's on everyone's wishlist.

I'm currently planning a few things in the short-term, some for the medium-term and of course I have things on my wishlist which may or may not *ever* come true, LOL!

So, my short-term (defined as 1-3 months time) projects are:
- having my two 1-caraters recut by BGD and also reset by them into HUGE clustered flower earrings (courtesy of Bliss). The halo's are to be made up of 12 pointers, to be taken from my existing Lazare clustered flower earrings
- my loose 0.23's, 0.20's and possibly even my 0.40's are to be set into a DBTY necklace, by BGD
- having BGD make me a multi-strand tennis bracelet made up of 4-5 pointers from my dangly diamond earrings (which my DH does not like), my spare eternity ring and pendant (not worn any more)
- setting my 1.52ct FY cushion diamond. This stone has been languishing around for a while, primarily because I've not been able to go back to Singapore to have a local jeweller set it, but also because the stone is smaller, so I'm still not 100% sure if I'd want it in a ring (this might end up being a medium-term project).

My medium-term (3-6 months) projects are:
- having my two pairs of golden SS pearls set - not sure yet how I want these set
- existing large golden SS pearl - to be made into a pendant, though again I haven't a clue how this is going to be done
- getting a new pair of diamond studs from JA, something with a diameter closer to 9mm (though this may happen sooner, ie. within the next three months or so) to replace my JA pears
- setting my various gemstones bought from Mastercutgems - if I EVER get them cleared by China customs, that is!

Long-term (6 months and longer):
- BGD is to source a 5ct stone for me, RB or cushion (though I hope this will be medium rather than long-term!

). This would be an upgrade from my current fab BGD studs.
- Tahitian pearl necklace, either all the same dark green body colour with peacock overtone, or a mulit-colour Tahitian necklace (but with much larger Tahitians

)
- a replica Tiffany Legacy, made up of a pink sapphire or flame spinel of approx 2-2.5ct; OR alternatively a halo'ed sapphire ring, with a 2.5-3.5ct sapphire centre stone

Wishlist (which may never happen and if it does, it won't be for at least another 6-7 years):
- 6ct emerald cut diamond solitaire, by Cartier or HW
- larger diamond tennis bracelet, to be made up of 1ct each RB or Asscher
- large white SS necklace (12-17mm) of the best quality, with superb lustre and orient, free of blemishes and completely round
- Riviera necklace, with larger diamonds, ie. with a 3-4ct centre stone graduating to smaller ones (most likely to *not* ever happen!) or a larger (5ct) OEC or GOG old-miner diamond pendant (also not likely to happen)
- a diamond-studded FM watch
- 10ct FY cushion ring (another item most likely to *not" ever happen!)

I love the tacori 2620 but have never seen it in person. I also saw another halo on PS that had double rows of diamonds with a split shank - total classic! any suggestions you have would be much appreciated! I don't know much about pearls but would love to find earrings to match this one - it's pretty big so I would like bigger drop earrings or even studs. With diamonds would be lovely but it all depends on the cost. I

I''m also debating whether to change my 18kt white gold ering setting to platinum. I am blessed that the money for this upgrade is not a problem but I love the shiny look of W/G (not the dull look of platinum) but hate having to replate my W/G ring every 6 months.

I know the W/G v Platinum debate goes on but I''m really torm between the two

Long term
Planning on a graduation present of some sort for 2012
Want to get a pear shaped, red garnet pendant
I also really want a star80 garnet from Gene and/or a bluish opposed bar tourmaline.

Wish list
Want to get a nice blue color change garnet, a native cut/step cut red spinel, and a sapphire cushion. (In order of preference)

For this year, I''m looking for something different and have seen some hematite necklaces and earrings that I''d love to have. Everything is relatively inexpensive. I did get three necklaces a few weeks back and even as simple small beads, they''ve attracted more attention than my solitaire pendant.

Not sure what else. There''s a bunch of things I''d love to do like reset rhodolite studs into rose gold, but now isn''t exactly the best time b/c we just bought a boat and I want to have money set aside for unexpected expenses.

Oh, and Etsy items are making me drool. (fun little stuff there!)

Everything I want ISN''T involving diamonds, which is rare. I think I''m kinda sick of them.

You know, I''ve had some problems with some WG but not others. I think it depends on the WG mix. I''m no expert on this, but I think some so-called WG are actually just some other metal, plated (sometimes very thinly) with WG, thus it would require regular replating. I''ve had WG which has never ever been replated (at least not for the last few years). I might be worth asking around to see which mixture your jeweller(s) use(s).

There was a recent thread about diffrent kinds of platinum. Again, I think it depends on the mixture/ type. If I remember correctly, some vendors use a particular kind of platinum that''s more shiny. If you can''t find that thread, let me know and I''ll see if I can dig it up for you.

Actually, my short-term and medium-term projects are mostly recycle projects or projects that involve what I already have. Each one of those should not set me back more than a thousand dollars or two, except for perhaps the upgrade to the JA studs

, which might end up being a LT project after all 'cos I'm particularly picky!

My LT projects may not actually happen until 12 months' time or longer, so we shall see. I'm pretty certain though that the first three projects on my ST list should finish by Xmas time, so YAY, merry Xmas to me, ha ha!!

My wishlist may remain exactly that, a wishlist which may never come true. However, hubby said that for every XX$ I manage to make for us from our investments, I can put 10% of the profit towards my "jewellery fund", he he

, so wish me luck with my investments for the next few years (speaking of investments, I know you asked me a Q about property investment, remind me to answer yr Q if I don't manage to reply within the next week or so).

3. e-ring is still in the works. I have everything picked out and ready to go, just need to put down the cash but that isn''t my department on this project

Medium term:
1: I have a creamish/gold colored pearl I would like to have set in a yellow gold lotus from HOW
2: possibly hanging lotus earrings with moonstone cabs, then again, maybe just a moonstone lotus ring- or a set

Long term:
1. blue sapphire RB stud earrings (for a graduation present to me- I feel like I deserve it

2. find something green that I like, preferably an emerald = may (wedding month) to be set in a key pendant by JKT, in honor of the wedding and FI (its his birthstone)
3. a knock-out amethyst for a rhr or pendant (in honor of the month FI and I started dating) maybe an oval or cushion

2) A ring - but what stone and what kind will be a mystery until it's done!

Medium-term

1) Set my green oval tourmaline from Barry - having a hard time coming up with a setting for it
2) Maybe a new ring like Lauren's new aqua asscher/baguettes -

3) Pearl earring jackets for my diamond studs + reset my diamond studs
4) Something in rose gold - probably a ring - maybe a light purple amethyst
5) Reset my mom's e-ring into something blingier

Long-term

1) Something fun for graduation! Not sure what yet but possibly a 5-stone with garnets or red spinels and diamonds

Wishlist

This could take all day so let's not even go there

But at the top would be one of the GOG OMCs

-Find pendant setting for my 12ct Siberian Amethyst which is oval
-brilotte earrings with clover design on top in diamonds

My medium-term (3-6 months) projects are:
- Purchase my 12mm Black SS pearl pendant necklace
- Purchase 3 white 7mm strands of pearls for a bracelet with gemstone clasp. See attached picture for inspiration.
Long-term (6 months and longer):
- 1.5ct + emerald
- 2.0 ct + royal blue sapphire cushion cut
-Find a new setting for my ering. Current ering setting will replace diamond with gemstone. Probably a concave cut yellow sapphire by Richard Homer.
Wishlist (which may never happen and if it does, it won''t be for at least another 6-7 years):
-GOG pendant in 1.5 carat
-DBTY necklace from BDG
-Matching DBTY bracelets -I would like 2 or 3 of them to wear in layers
-2.0carat eternity band
-12+ carat diamond tennis necklace

This is the spinel I got from Dana that will be my ering stone:
spinel The 2 ovals next to it are the ones for the matching rings for myself and London. And yep, they''re waaaay better in person than in Dana''s website pictures! I hope yours get to you soon!!

The ering will be inspired by this Caleb Meyer and also this Tacori 2nd picture down I really like the pinch in the sides of it...haha I''m not sure if it will work, the 2 of them together, but Julia thought she had an idea already, so maybe it will work!

I already have an opal pendant, so a ring makes more sense really..It''s super special to me-my grampa mined it in Australia and cut it himself-I was born on his birthday so was favored granddaughter and so close to him when he was alive. I want to have a...I don''t know, a memorial piece or something. When I get a little closer to being able to get it done I''ll have to start a thread in CS and beg for help!

Gosh, I have several. I picked up a lovely 2ct morganite recently that I want to set into a RHR. Then I have two oval green tourmalines that I want to set into earrings, an aquamarine that I want to put into a RHR and a malaya garnet that I''d like to put into a pendant. ''sigh'' I just have so many other things that are priorities....I''ll get around to these projects eventually...

I just finished an easy one. A friend of mine gave me a yg filigree setting and I put an emerald cut amethyst in it. I still need to figure out what mounting to put my step cut smoky quartz in. I have three strings of freshwater pearls that I''m having strung for Christmas. Two are normal white color and will be strung as one long necklace. The other is a mixture of pinks and will be a shorter necklace. I''m also looking at a tiny emerald cut as a possible pendant... if I can just convince SO now hehe.

Two custom pendants-sapphires probably..maybe the lavender/purple spinel I got from Freke will go into a ring. Not sure yet.

I have... none, at the moment. I thought I wanted a scattered diamond band, but then I tried one on and didn''t love it. And then I thought I wanted a diamond bezel pendant, but I tried one on and didn''t love it.

So... yeah.

I should reset my star sapphires.
I want something of the black gemstone variety.

But I''m not really working on anything right now.

I shall live vicariously through you all.

My 1 ct Tsavorite from Barry is being set into a 18k yg and silver lotus
My 2.7ct Unheated Tanzanite from Gene is being set into a 18k rg pendant
(Both of these are currently with sally from Heart of Water)

Still trying to find a setting for my 6.2m lovely round blue tourmaline

Planning on a graduation present of some sort for 2012
Want to get a pear shaped, red garnet pendant
I also really want a star80 garnet from Gene and/or a bluish opposed bar tourmaline.

Wish list
Want to get a nice blue color change garnet, a native cut/step cut red spinel, and a sapphire cushion. (In order of preference)

Here's a photo of the tsavorite, tanzanite, and tourmaline that I'm working on! (I must have a thing with T's this month...)

MTG, I LOVE the tsav you posted. What a nice rich green colour....very yummy indeed. Tsav's and tanzanite's totally have me enamoured. I'd love to get more gemstones but I need to find out a way to get my stones sent to me without having to go through all the "hoola's" with Chinese customs. The only thing I can say is that they sure don't want to collect duties, despite my wanting to pay them!

I'm sure if I had them sent to someone like Sally and consequently have her send the final pieces to me, I'd have still the same problem! Those pieces that Sally has been turning out are sooooo purty!!

Btw, you're graduating in 2012? You're a young 'un.

What are you majoring in, if you don't mind my asking? I just LOVE academia...I wish I'd followed that route and become a professor of some sort instead of becoming a Chartered Accountant. I'd love to get a PhD at some point.
