Have you ever seen two diamonds of the same shape and carat weight that look different sizes?
Yes, numerous times!

Did you know cutting explains that?
Absolutely!

Have you ever seen a diamond that made you say “ick?”

Have you ever seen a purple diamond?

Do you ever hope to see one?

Do you think someone is working on that in a lab somewhere?
Already done - some CVD LGDs with moderate to severe strain exhibit birefringence.

Do you imagine that person is an evil scientist or a happy gemologist?
Evil - it's almost always a by-product of a cheated growth process where quality is of a lower priority.

My DH says Cost!
