I’m trying to determine the color of this diamond, seller says it is a “browny pink“ I asked for pictures by a window and that is the second one. Really wish this had been set into rose gold to amp up the color.

Anyone have a brownish pink that can weigh in, like I’m not sure if they tend to look tan at times. I know colored diamonds can be moody.

Also, please don’t mention the seller, snipers and all. TIA!

It just looks like a faint/light brown to me. I don't see any modifiers (maybe I could convince myself to see yellowish brown)

I'm seeing brownish pink in the first pic, but not in the second. Maybe one of those stones that's just going to look different in different lighting?

Same

@junebug17, maybe you are right, it might be too moody although I do think it‘s neat that diamonds can look so different depending on the lighting.

@musicloveranthony, okay this is what I was thinking too except I’m trying to convince myself it could be a brown pink

Browny pink?
Maybe pinkish brown instead?

The reflection at 9 o’clock isn’t helping.

@Rfisher That is exactly how he described it which is why I put it in quotes :D

I have bought a couple uncerted colored diamonds and none of them have been what I anticipated. The only one that as not a surprise was the fancy yellow from DBL but it is also GIA certified so I knew what to expect.

I see brown and maybe a little gray. The gray is probably the reflection.

@YadaYadaYada , what's the budget and color that you're looking for?

Thanks for posting those @RRfromR, not really looking just happened to come across this one. I don’t think it’s a color that will work for me so I’m going to forget about it, take that money and put it towards Christmas gifts for the kids ;)2

@marymm, @caf, @Daisys and Diamonds, thanks for your posts, they are really appreciated :wavey:

Sorry I'm late to this thread, but in some lights brown/pink stones definitely can look tan. My little brown/pink is impossible to photograph accurately, and in direct sunlight the camera makes it look tan even though that's not what I see at all.

Greyish brown with a slight reflection of pink in the first picture, no colour in the second picture.

I see a bit of pinkish brown in the first picture. I agree with you, if it were set in rose gold it would be better. I have a 1 carat diamond pear (unset) that was sold to me as a brownish pink (no certification), and I see that pinkish in some lights but not others. I have never taken a picture of it, I wonder what it would look like if I did.

This makes me think of "the dress" picture that went around the internet years ago. Some saw it as black and blue, and others saw it as white and gold. =)2

In the first photo if you look at the bottom section of the bezel you can see a reflection of something pinkish. I wonder if the pink in the first photo is just a reflection?
in the second photo it just looks muddy.
buying things from photos, unless studio and “adjusted”, is a bit of a gamble. You probably need to see it in person to be sure. Does the seller have a return policy?

Sorry everyone, this thread got away from me but I do appreciate all the input and it just confirmed what I thought. It’s not the right stone for me So I am passing on it.

Pretty rings @T L, that yellowish greenish gray is especially cool!

Brown pinks, pink browns etc. are impossible to photograph. You may see more pink IRL than we ever will on your pix. There is a bit of pinkish especially in the first photo, if you are paying a low price; i.e. it is a budget stone, it could be nice reset in rose gold.
