what clarity you think this is?

this is the plot from the gia report. just wondering what people think this is cause at first glance i wasnt sure if i agreed...

Mike, you can''t grade clarity by a plot. It will give you a general idea of the type and quantity of inclusions, but what really matters is what the stone looks like..not the plot.

It''s true; the plot''s purpose is only to diagram where the inclusions are located on the diamond.

Because plots don''t show some inclusions (often clouds that would represent a stone worse than it actually appears), the plot can''t be used to assess clarity.

I''m curious ... Although, as mentioned, the plot is not an accurate clarity assessment tool ... What is it and what did you think it was and why?

Probably VS1, but difficult to tell without seing the stone.

True that the plot can't be used to clarity grade. But I will take a guess just for the fun of it.
I have noticed that GIA tends to grade "harder" on feathers. So based on the length of the feather and visibility that it may have face on, I will take a stab- SI1.

I have to agree it SI1 only because I saw a cert with a similar plot diagram the other night

your all close! but noone got it yet, its actually a vs2

the reason i ask is b/c i am helping a friend find a stone and every stone we look at in that category has visible inclusions under a loupe.

for some reason we cannot see anything inside this stone in all lighting conditions even with a 30x loupe

just struck me as odd

That''s the kind of grading you want! The price will be lower because it is VS2, yet you can''t see the inclusion with a loupe!

Oh, that would have been my second guess.

Feathers can sometmies be difficult to see if they run along a facet junction. That could be a great buy.

Without a bit of practice, a loupe is more difficult to use than you might think, and a major disadvantage is that you aren''t using dark field illumination, where the light comes in from oblique angles and enhances contrast - as with a dark field loupe or gem microscope.
