are you a good player?

I probably play casino or solitaire the most but neither are my favorite - I LOVE doubles pinochle but finding another couple who knows how to (or is willing to learn how to) play is so hard it''s only happened once in 18 years of marriage. I like 3 handed hearts as well and yeah I think I''m pretty good. Not that I''ve played in the last 10 years to know :P

Is card playing a dying art or am I just surrounded by duds? I love playing cards!

Bridge!

Poker, you bet!

Go fish. I''m a pro.

I like hearts, but if I''m playing at a casino, it''s Texas Hold ''Em (as a table game against a dealer, not at a "live" table against other casino guests).

Pinnochle (it''s family tradition, we play anytime three or more members of my family are in town:-) Christmas includes a massive all day pinnochle game every year

Spite and Malice! Not sure if it''s a really well known game, but BF plays it with his grandmother, and he taught me. It''s really fun!

we play spades a lot. FI and I make a pretty good team...I also like playing spades online.

Also, gin rummy....I''m not sure we have all the rules quite right, but FI and I played for hours this weekend....I''m winning by @ 700 points!

Cribbage! I once pegged 17 points to jump ahead and take the win

and I hardly have a 19-point hand

DH and I are pretty big cribbage players b/c DH's family is nuts about cribbage. I think everyone in the family knows how to play and is super competitive. We even took a board on our honeymoon.

My grandparents LOVE Skip-Bo. My grandma and I took down my DH and Grandpa yesterday afternoon.

ETA: Yes, I totally rock at both games. DH and I have an official cribbage record that we've been keeping since we got married, and I'm winning.

BF and I usually play Rummy, Speed and Egyptian Ratscrew together, mostly on vacations. I''ve gotten pretty good at Rummy, though he''s better, and the last two I''ve been playing since high school (gotta love the downtime at debate meets) so I''m pretty good at those.

My mom taught me to play Go-Stop (a very popular Korean card game, using special cards - Rules) a couple years ago and I play with her whenever I''m home. By far my favorite - and I''m GOOD at it too

My grandparents are really eager to play with me in June when they''re in Chicago for my graduation

hubs and i play rummy. i love rummy! we also play spades. and when we''re with his family, we play Bourré, which is a cajun card game i taught them.

My sisters and I used to play this all the time with our grandma when we were little. I don''t remember how to play it now.

My whole family is big into pitch.

I play Poker. My main games are Texas Hold''Em, Omaha and Omaha HiLo.

I can hold my own for definite.

DH would like me to play Bridge, but he and DH''s Bestman used to play for the UK so I''m not that keen to be endlessly beaten!

My MIL and her BF just taught this game(spite and malice) to my hubby and me over Christmas. It doesn''t really involve much (any!) skill, but it is fun. Unfortunately, I hate losing

Most commonly we play poker. My hubs is quite good.

We used to play spite and malice too, it''s really fun!

I forgot to add earlier, about Pinochle I am very good and SUPER competative

I play Spit with all of my nieces and nephews. (I''m not sure if it''s the same thing as Spit and Malice, but I do know that some people call our game Speed, too.)

I''m unbeatable.

My card games expertise is limited to solitaire and hearts, I''m afraid.

FI taught me poker and clabiash, but I''ve forgotten pretty much everything. He plays all sorts of games - mostly bridge - with his father, uncles, and grandfather.. when they all get together they can play for days, literally.

I''m bored after half an hour

I love to play hearts and cribbage. We actually play cards at lunch at work. The hearts games were getting a little vindictive so we switched to cribbage. I am better at cribbage because I don''t count cards so sometimes didn''t do well at hearts.

SO plays cribbage at lunch every day with his co-worker. They are commonly referred to in their place of employment as Waldorf and Statler (the two guys from the Muppets who sat in the balcony and were really grumpy). Every time I think about them playing cribbage together I crack up. I don''t know any card games except poker and blackjack, and those aren''t games that I play very often. I will play Uno for hours on end, though.

DH and I love playing cards! Spades, Hearts, Canasta, Rummy, Texas Hold ''Em, Uno....love to play Dominoes, too! I think we''re pretty good players! Wish I could hook up with all you pinnochle players...haven''t played that in forever!

Euchre, spades, hearts, gin, gin rummy, poker.

DH's family plays a lot of Hand and Foot.

eta~ yes, I'm a good player most of the time. My dad would physically harm us when we made a bad play as kids and yell, "You're playing like a tree fell on your head!"

Me too! My 81 year old grandfather taught me last year. He reached his "master" level about 2 years ago, I love that he has a hobby that keeps him active (he plays with a group 3x''s weekly).

Ooh I forgot, BF and I love hearts, but unfortunately, we hardly ever have enough players!

i played a lot 30 yrs ago.

I''ve been playing Tic tac toe lots recently, also a card game called wizard which is surprisingly amusing.

Card Tic Tac Toe:

you will need: 2 deck with jokers for 2-4 players - if more players, add another deck for every 2, paper and a pen or pencil for scorekeeping.

The object of the game is to get the lowest score by replacing the cards in your 3x3 grid with lower value cards.

Cards are worth their face value except: aces are worth 1, 2s are negative 2, jokers are negative 10, and face cards are worth 10.

1) The decks are shuffled together and each player is dealt nine cards, placed face-down in a 3x3 grid.

2) the players are then allowed to turn over two cards in their grid ( I usualy pick two corners).

2) The remaining card deck is set in the middle of the table and the top card is turned over and placed face-up to start the discard pile.

3) The player to the left of the shuffler goes first: the player has 3 options:

a) Take the card from the discard pile and replace one of the cards in his/her grid (the grid card is then discarded),
b) Draw a new card from the top of the deck and use that one to replace one of his/her cards from the grid (the grid card is then discarded),
or
c) Draw a new card from the top of the deck, discard it in the discard pile and must flip over one of the face-down cards in the grid.

If the card replaced was a face-up card, the card removed from the grid is placed face up on the discard pile.
If the card replaced was face-down, the card removed from the grid is turned face-up when placed on the discard pile.

4) Players go around taking turns replacing and revealing cards.

5) If a player manages to get 3 of the same card in a row either across , down, or diagonaly, the row of three is eliminated and the grid collapses to two rows of 3. One or both of those rows can also be eliminated by matching.

6) When one player has revealed all of his or her cards, the other players have one more turn and then all cards must be flipped and their scores added up.

7)The player with the lowest score winds the hand.

8) We keep a running tally and play until someone reaches 150 or 300.

9) A different player shuffles each round.

10) It''s easy to remove rows by picking up high value cards discarded by other players.

This game is a variant of golf, I''m not sure if it has any other names.

Try it - it''s fun!

I''m a terrible bridge, poker, or solitaire player.

Canasta. I am better than average.

Big Two (Chinese game I leant through college friends). I am great at this game, only because we used to play all the time during breaks etc throughout college. No wonder I did bad in some units. No time to study
