I am a novice at diamonds and I was wondering what I could expect to pay for a diamond with this GIA Grade Report:

Shape: Princess (Square Modified Brilliant)
Measurements: 6.84 x 6.76 x 5.22mm
Weight: 2.02 carat
Proportions-
Depth: 77.2%
Table: 70%
Girdle: Medium
Culet: None
Finish-
Polish: Excellent
Symmetry: Very Good
Clarity: VVS2
Color Grade: F
Flourescence: None

Thank you in advance for your replies.

You can pricescope your diamond at the top of the page and see what similar stones are going for. Good luck!!

thank you!

Are these retail prices?

yes

Can I ask the experts what their opinion is on this diamond?

RE: Retail price

The prices shown on PS are for those buying over the internet.

Generally, they are lower than what a store would charge.

So consider the pricing to be about the least a consumer would pay in the market that they could access.

Deep. You could get 7mm ^2 out of a 2 ct.

What are the pros or cons for a deep diamond? I have a 2.07 round and the first thing I noticed was that the round definitely looked bigger to the naked eye than the princess.

A deeper princess cut will return less light. But you dont want to go too shallow or the stone will look lifeless.

Depending on your parameters of choice in balancing all the characteristics - there is NO preset ideal proportions.

For fancy cuts, such as the princess, I would suggest you also consider princess cuts that have the cut grade and iight performance grading that the AGS reports have.

An AGS 0 Princess cut is difficult for cutters to achieve, so they are sold at a premium, however in most cases they will return more light and have more dispersion ( spectral colors) than SOME of the ones with only GIA reports.

I was aware of GIA, but AGS is new to me...what is the difference?

Go to the Search bar at the top of the page.

Type in "AGS Princess Cut"

You''ll find tons of info about the differences.

You could search the available diamonds listed here using AGS as the grading lab.

Also you could check out their website www.agslab.com

How do go about obtaining an AGS grading on my diamond?

How do go about obtaining an AGS grading on my diamond?

The AGS Lab only accepts stones from those of us in the trade.

Go to www.ags.org and search for a local jeweler or appraiser who is a member of AGS, and they could submit the stone for you.

Takes about 5 business days, plus shipping time.
