I bought a .58 rd solitaire ring today for 160.00 won on auction anyways seller says was bought for 800 last summer at Zales Outlet store she doesnt have the clarity or color of the stone but mentions its not brown or yellow also theres a white imperfection that runs across the center of the diamond and that is the only inclusion other than that she mentions its eye clean and inclusion is not a surface one it is within the diamond cant see it when ring is on finger see pic she mentions it has lots of fire did i get a good deal and does the inclusion look safe please appreciate your inputs i dont have the ring yet just the pic thats why im asking for opinions could this just be a feather because i do plan on taking the stone out should i have to worry of breakage would this inclusion also affect the dispersion the inclusion is almost a 9:00 little hand

haha did you notice you did not use one period in that entire sentence!! amazing!

for $160 i'd say that you got a great deal but it's hard to know what the great deal entails i guess. but even if the diamond is ugly at least you are only out $160!

oh and that said i would set that into a pendant where you do not have to worry about the inclusion taking a hit or anything like that. that would be a fab pendant.

A .58 won''t show much body color or inclusions so if it''s a low color grade you''re probably okay. Did it come with any paperwork? Believe it or not Zales has a lifetime trade up policy, in case you wanted an upgrade from them one of these days. I know they don''t have the greatest diamonds but if you''re on a strict budget or don''t care all that much about having a super sparly piece it might work out for you.

It looks very pretty for the money

As Mara noted it too would make a great pendant

Cheap enough! Dinner for two at a very fine Boston restaurant costs about the same. Thumbs up for a pendant!

Well, the diamond was cut with that and is in one piece - ''guess not.

The white feather may show, but even then - if Zales accepts it back, there isn''t much that can go wrong. You just got $800 trade-in value for $160. That''s fun

Thank you everybody for your opinions but im going to put this is a mans ring for me men like diamonds too lol

Most of us vendors could not even sell you a REALLY UGLY .58ct for that price. I say enjoy!

When you get it, go to your jeweler who is mounting it for you and ask him his opinion of the inclusion and ask him to set the stone accordingly. (This may often be with the prong NOT over the inclusion.)

Wink

if it''s for a man''s ring what about a bezel set style or something like that? that would be great in a brushed platinum or titanium setting recessed slightly with a full bezel. that would enclose all sides of the girdle and possibly you could recess the stone if the top is an issue too. let us know what your jeweler says!

diamonds 2002.........I agree. Men, like myself also like diamonds and good for you saying so!!! If you haven''t checked out my thread "Three More Days," do, as it shows the man''s ring I just had made for myself and my friend.

Congratulations on what appears to be a really good deal. As one person said, that''s about the price of dinner in a nice restaurant, but the stone will last far longer.

Wear it in good health and happiness!

Rod I was thinking of your ring when I posted that, it looks great!!

congrats on your purchase! enjoy it!

Likewise, congrats! For the price, how can you go wrong? It''s obviously a firey diamond, and the photo says you don''t have to worry about it being frozen spit!
