@katbran Is in Australia! Perhaps she might be willing to share what solvent(s) she prefers?

It’s a shame we can’t get Attack here - it can’t be shipped either.
I use Acetone- get an ear bud ( cue-tip for America) and apply to the cup . Then take a tiny file or Emory and sand the pin . You may be able to use a pin and peel or scrape of any on the cup . It’s good to give the pin a hard sand to rough it up - this creates more surface area for the glue .
Now the pearl you can use the Acetone ear bud to clean the area around the drill hole. You can then use a fine needle and scrape the actual drill hole working your way around the interior. Then knock any debris out .

you can use gel super glue

then hold the back pin with small pliers put a drop of glue on the pin end and push your pearl on and when it’s flush with the surface- give it a little twist .

all done

If you use gel superglue then it comes with its own release gel. Magic.

I bought these antique pearl dangles and I am eagerly awaiting their arrival! 14K yellow gold and ~7.6mm black Tahitians.

I absolutely love them...I hope the pearls are pretty IRL. They are far from perfect...different colors, clearly aged...but I couldn't say no and I am in love with the settings!

There was "failed attempt" at delivery over the weekend...with no updates since. :blackeye:

They look super pretty - love the settings and those pearls are colourfests! I’m looking forward to your thoughts and pics when you (actually!) get them! :cool2:

They came, they came!

They are beautiful. Light, feminine and I love the rainbowy swirls in the pearls. I suspect these are not antique, but vintage.

The color difference is far less dramatic IRL. One clearly has more fuschia and is lighter, whereas the other is stronger green/blue.

First photo is closest to what my eyes see…although the dominant colors recede and secondary colors come forward depending on the lighting. They are interesting pearls!

My only concern is that the dangles are plated gold, not solid. They are obviously stamped 14k, but the patina seems odd. If this is the case fingers crossed they don’t irritate my ears!

I think here the color difference is most obvious

They are gorgeous!
I have seen gold oxidize and turn dark, based on the alloys and climate. Try wiping the wires with a jewelry polishing cloth.
If that doesn't work, you can also try a teeny bit of Tarn-X on a cotton swab, then rinse.
Just don't get any on the pearls, of course.

You’re making me realize I don’t have a proper jewelry cleaning cloth! Buying one now. Thank you for the tips! Good to know it’s not out of the norm - I had just never seen it before!

They work wonders!
The kind I use is treated. It is called Fabulustre. It will make all your metals shiny again. But don't use it on the pearls!

Woke up in the middle of the night with sn itchy ear
Scratched what i thought was 'gunk' from behind my piercing in a half asleep state and flicked it down the side of the bed (gross i know - i was asleep)
Then realized it was an earing back
Sat up and turned light one
Two pearl earings in the bed with one back
The other back will be safe under the bed somewhere
Sigh
Gary says dont wear earings to bed
Sigh
