Are you hosting or going to a friend's/relative's house?

We are staying home but I picked up chicken and ribs to grill along with corn on the cob

We are at our cabin on the South Shore of Lake Tahoe. My husband and I are here and have been since Sunday. The kids and their friends arrive tonight and tomorrow morning. They have their own digs, - a cabin on our property just for them! We’re on the lake so it’s a beautiful setting. Tomorrow is corn, Greek salad, Armenian Pilaf and Lu lu kebab which is what I call - an Armenian hamburger! Watermelon for dessert. They’re all looking forward to it. There are currently 7 of us in the count and any stragglers my kids bring in.. I always make plenty of food!! Fun for all - then fireworks on the beach. Lovely family time.

I wanna try an Armenian hamburger! Lolol! You should create a fast food Armenian take out place! (In MY neighborhood)

Please share with us a pic of you enjoying your BBQ, @Dancing Fire

Sounds like fun! I miss Tahoe since we moved. I spent much of my childhood with friends at their cabin on the north shore in Carnelian Bay.

:bigsmile:We are staying home with the kitties and BBQ steaks and corn on the cob. Wish I was in South Lake Tahoe with queenie60, I love Armenian food!!!!!

With 2 young kids and the heat wave we've been having, we don't dare leave the house. So backyard BBQ with beer chicken and watermelon for us. Luckily, DH went overboard earlier in the summer so we have a gazebo, projector with massive screen, and of course kiddy pool to complete our own home-vacation spot :mrgreen2:

What time should I be there? . It'll take me about 2 hours to get there.

Already barbecued the corn for the Mexican Street Corn salad. Marinade for the grilled vegetables and portobello mushrooms is - well - marinading! I might throw the store-bought roasted chicken on the barbie to re-heat it, too!

I’m preparing the 4th of July feast at my father’s house alone this year - usually at least one of my brothers, or my sweetie, is here to make it a team effort. I’m only feeding four: my father, his live-in caregiver (bless her!), and a longtime family friend/ neighbor. Everybody will appreciate the break in their normal routines no matter what is served, so I’m sticking to the things I know I can do well and relying on others and their expertise to fill in the remaining blanks. Like the rotisserie chicken from the local grocery store. And the key lime pie I picked up at a local (to you too, DF!) bakery before heading to my father’s house.

Have a wonderful Fourth, everybody!

It's way too hot here for grilling so since I don't have a food picture, here is a patriotic kid picture. My oldest won that frog from a claw machine today :lol-2:

Happy 4th everyone!

Leaving on a cruise tomorrow, so microwave meals for us.

I just had a toaster oven baked newman's own frozen pizza!

p&j sammmmy x2 since wifey4vr isn't here.

Just grilled some thin rib eye steaks and had some loaded broccoli. Probably won't watch fireworks since neither of us really care to fight the crowds and heat to do so. Enjoying day #2 of retirement immensely though.

Only 7 of us this year. Ribs, burgers, hot dogs, bratwurst. Sides are homemade coleslaw, baked beans, grilled corn on the cob and garlic bread. Dessert is homemade french vanilla ice cream and oatmeal raisin cookies.
Carb and cholesterol heavy so back to salads and fish tomorrow!
Happy 4th everyone!

You have beautiful children! Glad he won the frog!!! Happy 4th to you.

We had a lovely day yesterday. It's just DH and me at home, but we have my oldest girlfriend visiting from Australia. We slept in in the morning, then made hamburgers and hotdogs, and had them with lettuce and tomatoes, grilled onions, BBQ'd corn on the cob, coleslaw and pasta salad. For dessert we had fruit salad with a topping I make of 50% whipped cream and 50% greek yoghurt; I like a creamy, tangy topping for fruit if we're having it for dessert.

We sat on our back verandah with the fan on blast, and set up a big lawn sprinkler, up wind. There was a breeze, so the air was blowing to us through the sprinkler, and was markedly cooler. After lunch, we lounged on the verandah chatting and watching my dogs play under the sprinkler, then came inside and watched You've Got Mail.

Before we ate, we prayed for America and the direction it's heading; freedom seems to be in short supply these days.

I do love my fair share of brisket, BBQ, and brats but this time wanted to try a healthier route. Marinated tofu in bbq sauce..... I wouldn't call it a true pinterest fail but not something I would try again. hahaha...

What does everyone else do with their leftover BBQ sauce? Any ideas on how to use it up, which is how the marinated tofu recipe came into existence in the first place for me.

Was way too hot here in Chicago and then heavy storms killed the fireworks so we ordered pizza and are trying again tonight but looks like another miss. I’m two blocks from Ribfest and have tickets to see Stephen Tyler on Sat night there.

April Baby- have fun at Ribfest! I lived in Naperville for 25 years and took my kids every year when they were younger-and Centennial Beach-lol.

Come visit!

Where ya going?
My 7th trip to Alaska.
Had 29.257 ctw of diamonds with me, but not a peep from any passengers. Got lots of compliments on my jade pendant and $20 gold piece though.
Did help a lady in Ketchikan with Black opals, when I asked the store owner if they were from Lightning Ridge, she asked how did I know to ask that? Explained that I had Gemologist Diploma from the GIA, to which she responded "I guess your diamonds are real", lol. Never occurred to me that ladies wear fakes while on cruises.
