What are these prongs called? Please help me find this!

Hello! I posted earlier, but now I have added a pic. I am trying to find a setting like this - it is a round brilliant stone set in the shown 4 L shaped prongs, framed in pave set diamonds in a soft square shape (see pic)

Can you help me find this?

I think there may be a specific name as well, but I know these types are considered art deco, antique style bands.

That setting is so great, MMM! It makes a round look like a princess!

When we see this prong design it is Art Deco jewelry for the center diamond. We describe this as a "diamond set in beads inside V prongs". The prongs rise only a little from a flat plate. Actually they are filed in relief from the solid plate or the plate is cast or die struck with these low prongs. The diamond is then fitted, as if it was going to be bead set, but only in the prong tips, and then the setter raises a bead inside each prong top and places it over the diamond and then bright cuts the excess away inside the V prong tip. The result is a diamond set in 4 low prongs which is actually pave' set but only in the prong tips.

I know this is a bit technical, but it would work as a description to a bench jeweler.....

You seriously seem able to answer every question and explain them in ways that we can all understand (and go to jewelers NOT sounding silly by saying "you know, those prongy things that, like, cover the corners on square stones, even though this is a round stone...". I like the look of these prongs too! I once wondered if I should buy a round and have it set to look square. GASP!!! LOL.... UGH, what I wouldn't do for a jubilee...but the supply just isn't there....

I'm with ya on that! As for the formula, it's easy! Just copy and paste it into the calculator (through the scientific calculator link I attached), enter in the carats for your stone, and hit "compute". Then again, if you're already brain fried, I completely understand your disinterest in working on anything else! TGIF!!!
