Plus, they are currently on Eagle Pack Holistic Select Chicken & Rice. I was thinking of moving them to maybe Avoderm or Wellness wet and dry eventually...I know you''re supposed to do this gradually, over a 2-week or so period so as not to upset their stomachs. Any advice on when I should start? Let them settle in a few weeks and then start to move them over? Wondering how much Eagle Pack I should stock up on.

Go with metal. Trust me. Those plastic ones are more trouble than they are worth.

You will need to bleach clean this every couple of weeks. 10% solution then lots of rinsing. Plastic keeps a lot of bacteria.

I was also thinking of getting them this scratching post, $16.99
I wouldn''t put it up against the furniture. Put it against a wall. Then see where they scratch. No need to have the associate scratching with the couch unless it''s something you can''t break them of.

I like your toy selection.

Get Clorox wipes.
Get a pack of surgical gloves.
And Pet Wipes. The big towelly ones that complete soak the cat, not the wimpy tissue ones.

Those bowls are so perfect. I share your disdain for overpriced kitty/dog bowls.

BEG - I can''t wait to see your new furbabys! DH and I might be getting a Sphynx in the next few months and this thread is fantastic! I have this huge pet hair issue. It drives me crazy. And they might work better for DH''s allergies, since I think he''s allergic to the hair. We''re going to go and do a snuggle test with a breeder to find out. So all the info here is invaluable!

Ok, so with all of your guys'' excellent advice in my mind, here is what I have in my carts now:

Crate & Barrel:

Gypsy''s set of four bowls with the tray ($9.95). Two for the kittens'' wet food, two for the dry food. I may use an old ceramic bowl we have if they decide they don''t like the water fountain.

I''m bored by the way, so I''m just putting pictures up, to save you guys the trouble of clicking links

Did you order the Crate and Barrel bowl set yet? If not, don''t do it. Trust me, the cat food will spill all over the outer part of the bowl and onto the floor. I bought a plastic food bowl mat that I put under the bowls and just wipe that every day.

Also, Gypsy''s rubber glove rec is a great one. I buy boxes of 50 pairs at a time and use them for liter changes. They also come in handy for house cleaning.

The couch corner scratching post is a great idea. I haven''t seen one of those before. Be sure to get one for EVERY couch/chair corner. Cats tend to be naughty and will just go to the next corner if one is covered up.

You can get double-sided tape that clings onto furniture and that''ll keep your cats from scratching the fabric up. We used that for a few years. It works, but looks weird - clear tape stuck all the place! Oh, and aluminum foil works, as well, if you''re interested in a more "modern look." My friend wrapped it around a planter box her cats were scredding up.

That pretty much happens with every bowl MC. I even tried ones with the sides sloping inward and my cats managed to drag crumbs everywhere. Those bowls are actually quite nice, IMO anyway.

They do look pretty! Actually, they''d make a fun set of candy dishes for the holidays! hehehe

Good call. I think I''ll switch to the slightly more expensive one with stainless steel to minimize growth of bacteria.

Yay! I feel for your DH - I''m allergic to cats, lol. I''m stocking up on Zyrtec in the next few weeks. Have you started looking yet? Kitten or adult?

I actually did buy them last night! It''s ok - I figured they''ll make a mess- good thing I have tile floors. I''m resigned to wiping - I clean up after my messy BF anyway, so might as well add the kittens'' messes too

Ooh I just realized I have TONS of rubber gloves - my mom works at a restaurant, and when I moved to Chicago, she sent me a huge box that I''ve never used so far. Fortuitous!
