What are fluted prongs?

Can someone explain what fluted prongs are? I cannot seem to find any info.

It's a term Tiffany uses for their solitaire. The prongs are elegant and fluid and curvy, not just the usual peg head prongs.

If you look at the Tiffany six prong, at the base of the prong where it meets the shank, there is actually an indentation in the metal, I assume it refers to this.

Like fluting a pie crust.
