I loved my engagement ring, I mean after all we (me and HTB-hubby to be) picked it out together. Well, after reading and learning soo much on pricescope I have gone back to the jewelers twice. I know htb must be like what am I in for, but he wants me to be happy. He say''s I''m the one that has to look at the ring everyday and think hmmm??? So I went and changed the stone from a Princess- G SI1 1.01 ct Good cut flour.- strong blue cert IGI to a cert. AGS0 .87ct. G VS2 flour.- neglible Ideal cut/pol/sym. Smaller in wt but table and head the same. Much better stone so even though smaller, size did not matter. HTB liked the stone better too he says it looks so much clearer, and blings. But now I went from a beautiful 14kt. white gold halo .75 ct wt., to a .50 ct. platinum simple setting. I did not know about rhodium and having to dip it every so often. I always originally wanted platinum but opted for the elaborate halo setting. I do love halos but figured because of allergies and I may be hard on my ring because I work in schools platinum would ultimately be the best choice for me in the long run. I appreciate this forum. I have learned so much. I will post three pics of rings soon, the halo with first stone, halo with second stone, and the platinum setting. I pick up the platinum setting w/stone soon. So nervous about how it will look

Cant wait to see the photos! So glad that Pricescope was a big help to you. I personally have learned soooo much.

congrats - sounds nice. Not sure I''m following what the setting is: platinum w/no halo? What''s the .5 relate to?

I can''t wait for photos either :)

Yes platinum, no halo but two side stones= .50 ct

Okay now this is the second VS2 G Ideal in the new plat setting with side stones, not as elaborate and understated but a better fit for my finger and cleaner. I love the weight of the platinum on my finger, nice!

Congratulations!

Although your first setting was very pretty, I really like your new setting. It really suits your hand and show off your beautiful new stone. (Actually, I think the stone looks larger in the new setting).

Enjoy your new ring!

Still not happy. Went back to jeweler and decided on another mounting platinum with baguettes and two small round side stones. I really love this mounting its simple and classic. Problem: i belonged to someone else who returned it. HTB was not happy with the thought that someone else wore it and proposed before me besides the fact that the side stones were a bit off in color . We tried the look of mounting with stone and decided to have them order a new mounting (that has not been worn) and a larger diamond. I have been waiting a week with no ring

and today the mounting is in and the stone came in yesterday. We have not seen anything yet. We will be going today. I so want to be done with this.I pray the diamond is beautiful and the mounting perfect no discolored stones. I know I''m picky but oh man! This time better be it, PLEEEAAASSSEEEE!!!!!

Can''t wait to hear what you got!

I''m sorry you''re still not happy - I really liked your newest setting that you posted
