What am I looking at?

I've currently been looking at diamonds. I spotted one that I thought I liked but it appears to have a line cut horizontally through the crown and the base. What am I looking at? I believe I have heard of this before but can't recall the information.

Are you talking about the girdle? You'll find this in all diamonds.

Hi, I got your email.Is the stone round? Does the line go all the way around the stone? It's probably just a reflection of the girdle.

Do you see it in other stones you've looked at?
