What ‘odd’ places do you ‘see’ ring design inspiration from?

I would so love to make a ring based on this wood plate-platter whatever the heck it is

I so can imagine a faux bezel with that gorgeous scalloped/point outline and a carved halo

David Klass could definitely do that for you. His carved engravings are perfection!

Oh @Rfisher I do this all the time! You'll find me staring at carpet patterns, wallpaper patterns, architectural elements, picture frames...lost in daydreams of how to incorporate them in to designs. (Dear god, I see jewelry in everything!)

Some day I'm going to use the design on the frame around the clock in my kitchen. Can you imagine this on a ring around some glorious gem?

And this old wooden picture frame, I always think what a great pendant it would make for an oval stone:

I found the inspo for my sunflower petal gallery (still at DK) from this picture of a mirror I found online:

Wow -- you guys are visionaries. I am very impressed!

I think I only look for inspiration in other jewelry .

Check out the Hemmerle IG for their random inspo photos of buildings, plants, interior design elements, etc. Lots of times I can not even figure out what part of the image serves as the inspiration...

I think that ”platter” would make a gorgeous design. :kiss2: I too grab pics of design elements I think would look great in jewelry. Of course I can’t find it right now, but I grabbed a pic of a decorative fence panel because I thought it would make a gorgeous ring gallery.

I also have this saved on my phone:
