I don''t think so. My bf just bought a stone from the expert selection. My understanding of the expert selection is that the stones are ideal but didn''t have the perfect proportions to qualify as ACA. The premium is a step below.
The expert selection that bf bought is an AGS 0,
A premium that I saw on the website had a cut grade of AGS 3
Yes, they have 3 levels now (or 4, including virtual options), Al explained this not too long ago, and you can see them here, but they''ve not yet updated their product overview to give words to the differential.
I wonder...is the intent for the ES options to now appear in the search by cut db with H&A...or sometimes, now...vs the premium select, which would not have that designation?
Kenny, when Expert Selection was created, it was intended as a way to offer stones that represented excellent value for the money. At the time, it wasn''t intended to be limited to ''near-miss H&A'' stones. However, because most of the stones in that inventory were of the near-miss quality, PSers came to equate our Expert Selection as being synonymous with ''almost ACA'' quality.
Since the inception of ES, there have also been changes to the cut grading scales for both AGS and GIA. We felt that adjusting our categories to reflect these modifications would be helpful.
Now, Expert Selection stones consist only of stones that narrowly miss qualifying for our ACA brand designation but still have proportions that meet the standards of AGS and GIA for top performance.
The Premium Select category consists of stones which are "value for the money" focused. These stones still represent beautiful choices at an outstanding value.
The emphasis of each category can be found on our site here: http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds/Default.aspx. If you roll your cursor over the category, the pop up box will provide the basis for the selection criteria for each category.
Kenny, every ES stone has cut proportions that would earn the AGS0 rank for light performance, which is but one component considered in assigning a cut grade.
Lynn, the Premium Select inventory will qualify for a Lifetime Trade-up but requires the trade-up purchase to be no less than 20% over the original purchase price.
