Hello PS-ers!

So... I had my mind set on a certain setting and had expressed my opinions very clearly to my DBF. He heard me out, but he is leaning towards having Whiteflash produce a similar custom setting. He''s more comfortable having the whole ring come from one place -- for diamond safety, continuity and (probably) ease reasons. I don''t think there''s going to be much -- if any -- savings by going through WF for the setting. The one I was looking at costs $3,500 from the designer.

I''ve read through some of the previous threads and am not seeing a lot about very detailed or vintage and art-deco looking designs from them, and that''s what I want. Can anyone offer advice about custom settings from WF? Maybe some reassurance? I know they won''t reproduce the setting I''ve been ga-ga over exactly...but how close can and will they get?!!

I''m willing to work with my BF on this because I know how much peace of mind he''s feeling from keeping the whole process under one roof... But I need some convincing from the people who know best!

Ahh, compromise...a lesson I''m sure will come in handy in the years to come with DBF

I would talk to WF and your boyfriend to make sure you are on the same page, but that is just me. I personally rather get the real thing so there are no surprises. I have seen some gorgeous rings posted by people who had custom done so I would make sure you were comfortable w/the design first.

I''d ask if A) WF can get the setting for you and set the stone. Or B) if your BF can get the setting and send it to WF for setting. I would want the original. DO you have a picture?

Gypsy -- when I save the picture from the internet it is impossibly tiny and shows none of the detail. So here''s the link: http://www.saturnjewels.com/engagment2.asp. I''m looking at AD144, first column/second row.

I agree with gypsy that I'd get the setting and have WF set the stone. I'd be very surprised if WF could make something close from scratch costing much less than that honestly. Custom isn't always cheaper and there is quite a bit of detail in that setting.
It's gorgeous by the way...

you might also look at beverley k settings, pearlmans sells them: this one is $1750 in WG and can be made without the rosegold...
