Hellooo!

Saw that you gave some excellent advice for another PS member and would like some input! Received the CADs and made some suggestions, have I missed anything?

WF CAD Nikola Mitic (1).png

Comments,

1.
Head should be more aggressive,
more towards a V then a U.
A lower set diamond might fix this?

upload_2019-2-1_9-39-46.png
upload_2019-2-1_9-39-56.png

2.
Less metall showing under the diamond pavé
upload_2019-2-1_9-41-3.png

3.
No gap between prongs and ring(could be the cad?)
upload_2019-2-1_9-41-45.png

4.
Diamonds at prong more ”splitted”, so there will be more of a gap.

5.
Not straight finishing of the pavé
upload_2019-2-1_9-44-16.png

6.
Guessing this is just the CAD, diamonds at the prong will be ”integrated” in the prongs? Eg, not sticking out.
upload_2019-2-1_9-45-9.png

7.
Arrows in line with prongs at 12’ & 6’ o clock. Just a preference, I have read that people have different opinions here but till go with 12 & 6 o clock :)

You seem to be aiming for a design with a lot of hard edges. Is that the look your intended is looking for?

1. If you want the prongs more of a V, you need to raise the diamond -- not lower it. Lowering the stone will make the head more squatty.

2. If you want less metal showing, you can't have micro-pave on both sides. The micropave is made by drilling a series of holes in the shank. That weaken the metal quite a bit. So, you need a solid section to avoid the whole thing from collapsing. This cannot be eliminated with this kind of design unless the shank is quite a bit wider (along the finger) which will really alter the proportions.

3. The "gap" in the diamonds are here for the same reason as #2. But, I think they should be able to get closer to this example from Greenlake. I also prefer that these prongs attach differently than a peghead which is much stronger. The prongs are not all emerging from one point, rather they emerge from 4 points. More points=more strength.
upload_2019-2-1_5-50-0.png
upload_2019-2-1_5-50-58.png

4. Putting pave on the prongs makes them wider. Then you are looking to add more width to make this more "v" shaped. I honestly think this design will overwhelm your diamond. You have a lot of metal and prongs and that is all I really see from the side with 6-prong and pave on all of them. There is nowhere for the eye to rest and actually see. You just see the pave and not the main diamonds...which is not what most wearer wants. I think you can achieve your design goals and not overwhelm the diamond by pulling back on the pave just a bit. (see ideas at bottom) or keep the pave-but go down to 4 prongs.

But, maybe this is the look you are aiming at., but with Vs not Us? Not the difference at the base of the head. This is not a peg-head. This is a head that has a wider base. This give more room for the pave on the prongs. This is Victor Canera's Gabriella with a 2 carat stone.
upload_2019-2-1_5-59-31.png

5. I would ask them to finish the pave with a V-shape at the bottom and use beads, if pave does not work, to fill the space. At this point, you have the shank coming to a sharp point, so they need to make sure from the side is look like a V.

See example in #4 and below. They can add a V shape at the bottom and add a few bead to fill the space.
upload_2019-2-1_6-2-10.png

6. This is a CAD, not a rendering. So, you are seeing the prong not bent over and everything is about 20% more metal to allow for finishing.

What about something more like this Mark Morrell Torchier head? you get stonger shapes and retain some diamonds in the head. I would as DK to keep the prongs straighter as they approach the shank to keep V look you want.

@rockysalamander

Thanks for you replies! My main goal is something similar to this but with diamonds at the prongs,
Knife-Edge-Micropave-Diamond-Engagement-Ring-in-Platinum-by-Whiteflash_51653_39581_a-145707.jpg

pav-tiffany-setting-37054623_RG_OVIEW_m.jpg

The ring is based on this one,
https://www.whiteflash.com/engageme...ife-edge-pave-diamond-engagement-ring-712.htm
But with 4 rows of diamonds (2 on each side of knife edge)
No milgrain
Diamonds at prongs/head
Soften knife edge/minimize metal on top of shank, separating two side of knife edge

1. Regarding the V vs U, my explaination might not be the best but this is what I'm trying to achive, a more "aggressive" look,

upload_2019-2-1_13-28-8.png
upload_2019-2-1_13-27-55.png

2. I'm aiming for 2.5-2.6mm in width, will it be doable?

3. Regarding the gap between the head and ring, I think this is the what I'm trying to achieve,
Knife-Edge-Pave-Diamond-Engagement-Ring-in-White-Gold_gi_3183_2-33569.jpg

From the side view it seems to look OK(integrated),

Can you ask WF what size stone is shown in the inspiration? That will help to be sure the scale is similar, but by adding the extra pave on the shank, it is proportionally wider along the finger. Maybe a taper toward the head would help with the proportions?

I know you want this ring to look different and more unique than her friends and she likes pave. You also have a baby. So, I'm posting a two ideas that include some of your elements, but feel more unique and wearable with a baby (to me!). Take or leave as you like.

@rockysalamander, will check regarding the size!

I will have to stick with current design since that is what she wants :kiss2:

I will change some of the pics above so they make more sense and send them over to WF today :)

Hello again!

I have banged my head around this for a couple of weeks now  I got this CAD as a inspo,
CAD-Template-Nov_2016 (2) (1).png

My feedback was then to add a thin knife edge as well as "fill" the space in the end of the pavé.
We got down to this,
WF CAD Nikola Mitic 3.png
meas.png

I'm almost ready to give it a go, but the I would like your inputs on the following,

- Knife edge looks a bit chunky, however, production team told me
"The middle ridge is approx .70mm in the CAD model however that will be thinned and softened so that it wont be any wider". Do you think it will be fine? I'm worried it will look to rounded from a top view whilst aiming for a more "knife edge" without being to knifey :D
- There is a gap between the head and the ring, I would like to avoid this, but it seems impossible?
- Does the overall balance look OK? Center stone is 7.10mm round.

I love the head, it's exactly how I wanted it! I

Hello again,

Couldn't wait for response and input :roll2: will go for that CAD with these requests,

- "Middle ridge"/Knife edge, preferably I would like it to be smaller.
- "Middle ridge"/Knife edge, more of a knife-edge, it's preferred if it's sharper than it looks in the CAD. Also sticking out a bit above of the diamonds when looking from the side and top.
- Claw prongs
- Diamond arrows aligned with 12 & 6 o clock(North and south)

upload_2019-2-27_13-3-9.png

Will get back with pics once it's finished!

Proposal
My pregnant GF is constantly talking about proposal and really believes it won't happen in this year or next due to our financial status at the moment(Just bought a new appartment, furniture and baby stuff). She has reached the point to where she says, anything will do, even a 300 dollar e-ring, she just wants to get married. Little did she know that I had 20 000 bucks towed away for future engagement

I will book a weekend to Sardinia were our love reached it's highest point and when I knew that we would live the rest of our lifes togheter. Just have to start planing in detail! Proposal will be at a wineyard with views of the ocean.

Cads always look a bit chunky. The knife edge will look sharper IRL. Very pretty!

So sweet you saved for this without her knowing!

Will the knife edge have milgrain? I think that helps it not look like a metal strip running down the ridge.

Thank you :)
Nope, she wasn't a fan of milgrain, it will be more like the tiffany pave,
